Did Spurly Every Figure This one out?

I got it!  Is it bad to use a pen and paper?  I'm pretty sure I couldn't have done that in my head.

I got it.  Over a year later, but I got it.  It took me about 30 minutes once I set my mind to it.  Is that longer than usual?

Einstein's Riddle

The story behind Einstein's riddle is that Albert Einstein created it in the late 1800s, and claimed that 98% of the world population couldn't solve it. I am not sure of the true origin, but I have seen this one floating around the internet, and it is a good brain exercise. Here it is:

- In a street there are five houses, painted five different colors.

- In each house lives a person of different nationality

- These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

Einstein's riddle is: Who owns the fish?

Necessary clues:

1. The British man lives in a red house.
2. The Swedish man keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Danish man drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the center house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The Blends smoker lives next to the one who drinks water.

I like tearing apart these tests, just to show the flaw's.

8. The man living in the center house drinks milk.  There are 5 houses, there is no exact middle house.

9. The Norwegian lives in the first house. Is this first to the right, or to the left, or is this just the first house mentioned in the riddle?

2. The Swedish man keeps dogs as pets.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.

Typically, pet owners keep more then one type of pet, it's mainly about a hobby element they choose to keep in their lives.

He mentioned cigars in the original statement, he goes on to mention cigarettes, why is that?

I used to drive my math teachers nuts, I'd ask them to explain to me the nature of these formula's, why we must assume so much within them without having all of the variables and facts, as we would in the real world.  This is another one of them.  We need more data to form an exact, logical answer, otherwise, it's speculation.

I was going to say that you could ask Einstein when you get to heaven, but unfortunately, that probably won't be possible.

Interesting you word it as "probably" this indicates that you think there is a possibility he may some how get into heaven.  Sorry, can of worms here I probably should not open up.  Did he show any indication of being saved, or chosen?  I don't know about the rest of you, but I look to him with a warm heart, even though he called himself a Jew, I only wished the best for him due to his gentle nature and demeaner.  Stuff like this is hard to contend with, I feel like I have to become cold of heart in order to stay PC as a Christian with what I've been taught, yet my heart has an issue with being that way.

When there are five houses, there is a middle house.  No flaw there.  Further, we are not assume anything, we are told the rules of the riddle from the get go. In the case of this riddle, we do not need more facts to solve it, since of course, it is a riddle and not real life.

Mathematical Formulas are based upon ideal situations (which in most cases will never happen) in order to find a model or approximation of real life.

We may not have every minute variable, but within scattered decimal places formulas like:

V=IR and P=I²R, accurately describe electricity.

Gary, Thank you, I was demonstrating another principal here as well, the power of suggestion.  You proved it here.

I am in good company, all of you, this is fascinating stuff we are all dealing with, we are learning and in some cases teaching as well.  I like keeping company with smart individuals!!!

I say probably because I prefer not to try putting God in a box.  He can do whatever He wants, ya know?

Given that Einstein was one of the most effective proponents of deism in the history of ever, I'd say it's a pretty long shot.

I used to wrestle with the concept long ago, I had a good teacher that explained to me that our memories of those that we have personal concern for, yet they didn't make it to heaven will be blotted out.  That to retain them through eternity, knowing that person is never to be with you again would be counterproductive in the heavenly state.
