My team started strong this year, but they have really faltered in the Big 12.  Of cours I am referring to Texas A & M.  They have now last three straight, again.

How is your team doing?  One surprising team to me has been Kentucky.  They have really bounced back from a rough start to the season.

marc

I just watched WVU beat Providence 80-53 to run their record to 19-8.  They're still on the bubble as far as the tournament goes, and have a rough schedule from here on out.  Their personell doesn't really match up with first-year coach Bob Huggins' style of play, although he adjusts a bit, but they can still be entertaining, if inconsistent.

If they make the tourney, I'd say the Sweet 16 is a real possibility.

Jeff

It's a fun time of the year.  I've enjoyed having my oldest son up at Lipscomb and taking my youngest boy up to Nashville for a game each year.  Heh... not many D-1 games start with an invocation, but they do at the Allen Arena!

My wife and I are big ACC fans (we went to FSU, my brother went to Clemson, and of course Ga Tech is right here in town.)

Got a lot of Kentucky guys here in my office, and they were absolutely despondent early in the year.  Nice to see them smiling again.

marc

Not sure how wide their smile is now.  As of today Patrick Patterson's out for the year; that'll hurt, particularly with them not assured of a tournament bid yet.

btw, WVU's 20-8 now with a big, big game at UConn tomorrow.

marc

WVU finishes the regular season at 22-9, 11-7 in the Big East, the toughest, deepest conference out there.  They're in the tournament.

Anybody got a dictionary?  The stuff on this thread is all greek to me! ???

don has a plan

My University of Memphis Tigers finished the season 30-1 and 16-0 in the hideous Conference USA.  Unless something drastic happens, Memphis should go 3-0 in the conference tournament, entering the NCAA tournament with a 33-1 record -- best in the nation.  We'll see what happens from there.  Memphis is known to choke when it matters.

marc

I don't know; they might run into the school I just got my Master's from, Marshall, in the tournament, and you know the Thundering Herd played Lipscomb pretty tight before losing to them at home....

My husband and I moved within the past year from Fairfax, Va to Williamsburg, Va, so we thoroughly enjoyed watching George Mason vs William and Mary play last night. Did anyone else see the game? Too bad our William and Mary didn't make it...they sure gave it a good run, though!

Possibly, marc, possibly.  Has Marshall ever had a good basketball team?  I know they haven't done much since joining C-USA a few years ago.  (Football, of course, is a different story -- somewhat.)

marc

Actually they had their first winning record in a while this season.  Small steps.  New coach was Billy Donovan's assistant (and when Donovan coached at Marshall may have been the last winning record) and seems to have made a few strides.  They played better after the Lipscomb embarrassment, although they did still get blown out by Memphis and a couple of others.

Cool.  I hope they continue to progress.  Right now, there's a terrible disparity between the three teams at the top of C-USA (Memphis, UAB, and Houston) and everyone else.

Memphis is, unfortunately, on the opposite end of that disparity in football.

Didn't watch the game, but I did turn to it off and on at commercials of whatever I was watching.  But I did see a funny sign in the arena that someone had made that said, "George Mason is this year's George Mason."   ::smile::

Since OSU might not make it this year, you should cheer for Michigan State.

marc

WVU is now 24-9 and playing Georgetown in the Big East Semi's tonight, thanks largely to Joe Alexander finally figuring out that yes, he really can play like those guys on the "and 1" videos he used to watch when he lived in China.  Last 5 games: 32, 32, 29, 22, and 34 points.

I did root for MSU!  But 50 - 20 at halftime is quite a bit to make up!

So .... it's your turn ... maybe you could root for the Buckeyes on Thursday in the Nobody's Interested Tournament final.

Well, ok, so my team lost....actually, got really smeared by Louisville, but I can still pull for Memphis. Maybe they will win it all.

Go Memphis!  ::cheerleader:: ::basketball::

Actually, they have a great chance to win this year.  As a matter of fact I would probably pick Pat Summit adn the Vols to win it all!

I agree.....although I was actually pulling for Memphis you have to give credit where it is due. Kansas did everything that they needed to win.....it was a first class game and they deserved to win it.
