[link removed per forum rule 3.3] is the most beautiful monastery that I have been in my whole life and I have finally decided to join. They are recently looking for new novices or people to join as the place is huge and the numbers are small. It is a very relaxed monastery as they do speak now and the food is incredible and the work isn't so much now.

If you are thinking about vocations, maybe the monastic life is the one for you.

You are welcome to come for a visit or simple retreat to see the place or simple see if it is something that would suit you.

God bless

I love the idea of a quiet devotional retreat but I doubt the monastic life is for me.

If I ever become a monk, I will dedicate myself to eating potato chips.  Then I would become a chi...never mind.  I won't say it.

Did I ever mention that one day I plan to buy a donkey and name him Odie?

I'm far from monk material....but what a beautiful place!!!  I've always wanted to travel to Ireland and I would definately put this on my list as a place to visit.
Good luck to you my friend!

So, marc, would he be a smooth Hawaiian singer or would he have a stinky attitude?  Donkey Odie or Odie As--

Um, sorry.

So, dust and ashes, do you know of an equivalent place for nuns?

AWESOME!!!

I just spent a week at a local Benedictine monastery; if I did not have the responsibility of raising my children, I would join - in fact, I intend to retire there.  In the meantime, God has called me to a different vocation.

Nuns and monks belong to separate, but connected monasteries.

The purpose of pursuing the monastic life is to know yourself on a deep level, contemplate God, and pray for the world - I think it is a great way to live your life.
