How do I contact a moderator for a private chat?

I really need to talk with a moderator over email. How do I go about doing that?

Send them a PM (Private Message)

You can email any moderator, or indeed any member, easily through the boards here, if they've made their email address available to do that.

Otherwise a P.M. will work -- you can always go to email after you get their attention with a P.M.
