Does the forum have a section for Bible studies or a thread where people get together and do Bible studies?  I'd like to participate in something like that if it is available here.

Thanks,
Gracie

I might be interested, also...

Not sure what you mean by bible study.   The theological and apologetics sections include  lots of bible study.  A new thread can be started that addresses a particular book or subject of interest!!!!

Sorry for not being more specific.  I have the idea in my mind and figure others will understand what I am saying.   ::doh::  LOL!

What I mean by Bible study, is maybe someone has a outline for a Bible study and they can lead it in a thread and we could do it together.

Those sections from what I have seen look more like debates than studies and fellowship, not that I don't enjoy those sections, as I do.  Just not what I was looking for.

Example:
I have a Women of Faith Bible study on Receiving God's Love.  I could post the gist and people could do the study and then enjoy engaging in conversation about what they drew spiritually from the study as we went along.  Not a debate, but an edifying and a sharing of personal spiritual growth.

I agree - debate, fighting, name calling - you know - the love of Christ being demonstrated.

I really wanted to say that any bible study would likely be hijacked eventually by passionate opponents but that sounded too negative.   Hang around a while, start a thread with some kind of promise to be made that highjacking will be kept to a bare minimum on your thread!

I belong to another forum where one of the moderators picked a book each month, and everyone who was interested could get the book, and then we'd all read and discuss it together.  It eventually fizzled out.  The last book we were to were to read, was a book entitled A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, by Eugene Petersen which is a study of several of the Psalms.  I though it was a great book, but I was the only one who actually stuck with the book to the end.
It's one of those books that seems a little heavy at first, but I found it very encouraging as I went along.

If you decide to do something like this, I'd be interested.  Pick a book and a date to start.  Not everyone will be able to post every day.  Keep that in mind.

Maybe you should see how much interest you get, ask for study/book suggestions, and then pick a date to start.  Try giving a few weeks notice if people would need to go out and buy or order a book.

This is a very old post and has been abandon so I would say if you would like to start a study go for it and see if it takes.
