How have you recently seen GOD  (Holy Spirit) at work on your lives?

graceforme

I see God at work in my life every day.  Recently, I found myself needing to find employment.  I applied for a job at a local grocery store.  Since my husband works afternoon shift, I thought that working midnights would be good.  I could get some housewok done, share lunch with him before he goes to work, then sleep in the evenings when he's at work.  Well, I started the job on a Sunday night.  I found the work to be so tiring (stocking) that I simply couldn't keep up.  (I guess I'm just not as young as I used to be).  Anyway, I made it for three nights, then had to quit - I just couldn't take it anymore.  I called the HR manager and told her that I was quitting and wouldn't be back.  To my surprise she was completely understanding, offered me another position that suited our schedule perfectly, and the work is so much easier, I have no trouble keeping up.

This may seem like a small thing to some folks, but it sure was a big deal to me.  Do I think God had a hand in this?  Absolutely.  I needed a job badly, prayed and asked God to provide what I needed.  Does God ever deny us of what we need?  I've never known Him to do that.  He may not always give us what we want, but our needs are always supplied.

God is good ..... all the time.
All the time ...... God is good!

I believe that God is at work in every human heart calling all to repentance.

I know that He is at work in my heart since I heeded His call to repent. Each year I look back on a life changed by the power of God--slowly but surely we all grow into the image of Christ. This is the work of God in the heart.

It's funny you would say "recently".

I haven't told anyone this -but here where you don't know me I think it is ok to share this because there is no real ego involved. It's one of those things you just keep to yourself.

I was shopping in a Thrift Store for books--I overheard children in the next aisle saying how they had so little money they didn't have milk for their cereal and he was tired of it -the older brother's voice (maybe ten) said, "Dry cereal's good, shut up." Well, I'm sick of it."

This "thing" came over me - I reached into my pocket and I probably had  $30 or so - a couple of fives and a twenty maybe some ones.   I'm not flush with money which simply adds to the story ---when they rounded the corner there was a 5 yr old girl and the boy in the cart complaining with the big brother pushing.   I  found them again in a minute, walked by them and handed the boy in the cart my twenty dollar bill...and kept walking.

Now, mind you, as I looked at my money - I "felt" the devil suggest I give them only a five.

I later thought  -maybe I should have said something about God to them. But, well, it didn't happen that way. I knew they would remember this the rest of their lives and figure it out for themselves as we all do. :)

But it was the "using" of me -the feeling of being taken over almost the "compelling" that came over me that was different.

I followed the direction I was feeling and later that day - someone came over and bought a $300 st. glass I had had for a very long time available.  Which, of course, was not a coincidence.   ( A gallery had cracked it and it was hugely discounted - I had let the gallery off the hook.)

Yes, that was fun and special and certainly the Holy Spirit at work.

What a great story!  It goes to show how rewarding it is to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  I've got a prompting myself that I haven't told anyone about yet.  My family (my son, daughter-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, daughter and her boyfriend, and a close friend and his wife always draw names for Christmas.  That way, we only buy one gift, and we put a $20 limit on it.  For the past couple of days, I've felt a prompting to collect the $20 from each one of us (that would total $160, possibly even adding some to that amount), take that money and get the name of a needy family from the Salvation Army.  With that money we could buy some toys and things for the children in that family.

Like I said, I haven't approached the rest of the group with this thought yet, but I remember years ago when a civic group I was a member of did this.  We actually took the Mom shopping, and allowed her to pick the toys for the kids.  They always enjoyed it so much.

Too many people don't realize that we receive blessings from being blessings.

Many blessings to you.

Thanks for your response and thanks for sharing!  I love hearing about the practical real life ways that GOD is moving in Our lives.  I asked the original question because I personally have been working through some very tough times in my life the last few years and need the encouragement.

I love the way GOD worked in your need for employment. HE does know what we need and HE wants US to have what will bless us also.

IT is always a "Big deal" when we see in practical ways GOD working in our lives.

And you are right GOD is GOOD ALL the time!

Yes, I agree that the HS does work in our hearts to call us to Jesus, to repentance , and to Salvation. Praise GOD for that!

I don't think it is always slowly that we grow. I know there have been times when I had to grow very quickly to keep up with the Call of GOD on my life.   I do agree that it is a lifelong journey and thate we should always seek to grow in character and in the image of the Father.

God does work in our hearts. no doubt. How has HE worked outside your heart?

WOW Elaine!  Thanks for that great story of how your were prompted by the HS to carry out that very needed act of love!  I love the way you were open to and how you responded to the "still small voice" of God and were able then to touch some precious lives.

How many of us ever hear what is going on around us in a store?   I know the dynamics of most Thrist Stores and also know that often those who are there are rushing through and searching for things for themselves taking little or no time to even notice who might be around them.

Satan will always try to deter us from doing good. Always.  And sometimes he uses well meaning "Christians" or those who call themselves Christians.

You may not have used specific words "about GOD" however you showed them a clear picture of HIM at work in their lives.   Thanks for being obeing to that "thing" that came over you!

It is encouraging to me to hear how you submitted and surrendered to GOD to be used.  it is an amazing thing when the love of GOD "compels" us to action. Thank you again for sharing!

We have been blessed, so let's be a blessing.   That is the attitude of the Church I currently attend.  I love the concept and I love watching and hearing about so many of our members doing that.

Thanks for sharing your story and your idea on how to use a little from each of you and make that a great blessing to a family in need. What a great idea!

I, too, love to take a look at the way God works in our day-to-day lives.   We have a tendency to look for the spectacular, and in doing so we miss the miracle of the "ordinary".

God bless.

::clappingoverhead::In a couple of different ways.  I used to listen to any and all types of (bad) music.  For example...rap, hip hop, rock, etc.  It wasn't exactly the "type" of music that made it "bad", but what was in the music...the lyrics...that made it bad.  (And un-Christian like).  NOW, however, I am careful what I listen to.  If the lyrics promote loose sexual values then I change the station...if it talks about "(doing something) in the club"  then I change the station.  If it talks about " you have the lips of an angel...but I already have a girlfriend...then I change the station".  There are some pretty morally loose songs on any given music station at any given time.  I definitely find myself controlling what goes into my ears (and subsequently into my heart) now that I have become a Christian.  This is how I know God is changing me.  I don't listen to what I used to listen to (without cringing) and I don't watch what I used to watch on TV.  Some of my favorite shows used to be Without a Trace, Law and Order SVU, Sex and the City, etc.  Now I don't watch any of those shows.   I liked them at the time, but I gave them up because they now don't go with my new life.  I just can't bear to watch the violence, hear about the violence, hear about murder, hear about sex...it rubs me the wrong way now, when formerly I used to enjoy watching thiings like this.  This is how God has been at work with me.  Simple things like that.

Also.  I don't hang out with people who get drunk anymore.  I don't want that to be the goal...to go out and get drunk.  That's a pretty stupid goal.  I broke ties with a friend because that's what his goal was when he goes out.  He was a bad influence.

I listen to Christian radio stations alot more now.   I read my bible frequently...before I didn't touch a bible.  I believe in God and Jesus now...I didn't have a clue before.  Those are ways that God has been at work.  I broke off a bad relationship.  I voted for a Pro-Life candidate for President.  More ways that God has been at work in my life. Thank you...that felt good!!

What a blessing your testimony has been to me.  It's so refreshing to hear how God has changed someone's life - and always for the better, isn't it?   Too many parents don't have any idea what their kids are listening to, and I even know Christians who don't realize how we can be affected by what we watch and hear.

Keep looking up!

Okay! if you insist but remember that our cultures are different so please try to understand cause this is at the same time a small biography of my life.

I was born in a poor family and we are 4 children. 1 girl a dentist and three boys all of which completed their education except me. Since childhood i know i was different than my brothers. At the age of 5 i already experieced having sex with boys and it goes without knowing that it is a sin. Other kids called me faggot because of my actions and the way i talk and I feel ashame of it but i dont know how to change the way they see me. I grew up that way and with it are many men who enjoyed my weakness. When i was 11 years old i ran away from home and stayed in the catholic convent and became a helper cleaning the church building, the priest house and everything and i hated my father for no reason. I stayed there but things were not really good and i had that feeling that maybe they will throw me away so i was constantly thinking where shall i go next. Seminarians and even the priest enjoyed my stay there because they can make sex with me anytime. After a few years when the priest was transferred to another church i also moved to a family but after a few weeks my mother came and cry begging me to go back home so i did and i went to school again but after a year i ran away again and went to the city. When i was in the park there were these young people singing and having fellowship and they are giving tracks. I had no idea what they were doing except when i was already trapped in a situation where i dont know where else to go i went to their church and stayed there for the service. I asked the people their if i can stay in their building which turned out to be a small bible school. They did not allow me so i went away but there was this young man who looked at me while i was walking away as if he wanted to help but could do nothing. In desperation i thought of committing suicide. I thought of buying valium and i will stay in the theater and take that valium and die. So i went to the drug store but they asked me for doctor's presciption so it did not work. And so i wonder in the city until one day i decided to go back home. After a year one afternoon while entering the house there was this noise coming from our backyard singing and clapping and i saw this man playing the organ and singing songs and i fell inlove with it so i went to their church not very far from our house and they were friendly to me. They even allowed me to stay long have lunch and play the organ so i went there almost everyday not knowing that the wife the pastor was sharing with me the Word of God and then i decided to attend their sunday service regurlarly and became friends to them. We were almost all on college that time and things were not so good financially and my father was just a fisherman. My sister was in college taking up dentistry and she always needed money. I read the bible and listen to the preaching every sunday and pray a lot that my father would catch huge amount of fishes so they can send money to my sister and i knew deep within that God would answer my prayers; and He did clear as crystal. almost all fishermen when they came home from the sea caught almost nothing but my father a lot this happens many times and it stucked in my mind even until now. God is alive and answer prayers when you asked with humble heart.

When I lost my very first job in the city because of my wrongdoing; i went back home, to the beach where i used to pray and cry there for another job. I asked God to give me another job in the bank and He did 2 banks actually. The first one i was hired as a loan assistant and the second was an Officer In-charge where i also lost it because of my wrongdoing. So i write a book and it sold 280,000 copies in one year when published by my brother in-law but it was never reprinted again. I received almost 100,000 thousand pesos in one year for my royalty. a year after i wrote that book i decided to go work abroad so i pursued my father to help me called his cousin in the USA to sponsor for my plan but he died shortly so i tried in Japan because my mother has a relative there but did not work instead i ended up here in Saudi Arabia where i work as an administrative assistant. I study bible when i get free time and i fall inlove with end time prophecy. I struggle with homosexuality and i prayed with tears to the Lord for healing but the more i struggle the more that i get sick and depressed and i read about the demons when it depart from its abode he will come back 7 times more and i am thinking that these are the demons thats causing me to do all these things.

When i look back with my life i realized that God is with me all along cause i never would have reached this age if He wasnt around me. When i realized how temporary things here are it made me feel like going home early to be with Jesus. I never feel true love to anybody and i never cry for anybody but I cry for Jesus a lot. So i guess He is after all my true love and it felt so clear like as if He is infront of me only i cannot see Him.

God does love all regardless of who we are ::blushing:: ::shrug::

Wow, jessbuds, what a story!

Thank you - we all know you better now.

Your English is great, btw. You must be very smart. I only know this one
language.  I hope you find many friends where you are now.

If you write again - what country were you born in? How many languages do you speak anyway?

I'm glad you found God. I'm glad for all of us.     No! That didn't sound right!!   I mean, I'm glad we all found God, too. :)

Hi I am new to this forum Iam 29 years old living in southern california.  All through highschool I had severe depression.  in my early 20s I took anti depressents and it helped me a little but I was never the way I was before the depression started at 15.  Today I am not depressed like I was but i have no motivation.  I am extemely introverted and lack social skills and the motivation to socialize and its hard for me if not immpossible to enjoy anything unless i am drinking. Im not sure if that is just a natural change that occured in my brain or not but I have lost hope and I dont see a positive future for me.  A friend of mine reccomended I need a higher power.  It just sounds like hocus pocus stuff to me. I new of one man a long time ago who was into drug dealing etc..  Then one day hewent to a christian home or soemthing and claimed he got SAVED.  What type of process he went through I am not sure of.  What do you guys think?

Thanks Sisters. He is indeed our God of wonders and He is what keeps me going everyday in fact. Without Him there is not much reasons to live.

Hi Cacoca! Welcome to the club. I am new here too about few days ago but i fell inlove with the site so here i am spending most of my free time typing.

There is no process Cacoca. Only believe that Jesus died for our sins and that He is our loving God thru whom all things came into being. If you want to know more about Jesus you can learn more about Him in the bible and from here of course. But i guess you know Him already dont you?

I am taking anti depressant too everyday in fact 3 medicines a day. 1 for gastritis, 1 for high blood pressure and 1 for my depression. I know the feeling sis but i get my joy from Jesus and from the Holy Spirit everyday. He is the only reason for my living actually that is why even i have these thoughts of suicide? He gave me this reason inside of me always that it is wrong to do and that i should wait for my notice to be with Him and i hope it will be soon. There is nothing wrong if we long to be with Jesus you know? Paul long to be with Jesus but if we live longer then it is sure a blessing too and we should praise Him because He allowed us to enjoy His wonderful creation.  I love music Cacoca particularly orchestra music of Richard Clynderman, Yanni, Josh Groban and Lara Fabian and oh i play violin too and sing a little. I think what you need is something that you can do to get busy every day instead as theraphy you know? why dont you learn to play piano or cello. These are very healthy hobby and very classy too. People will envy you.  ::noworries:: ::kissing::

I think that man learned about what Jesus Christ had done for him, and then he accepted Christ into his heart and made the decision to allow Christ to be the Lord of his life.

It's really very simple - Christ was born of a virgin and died as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the people.  WE are the people.  All we have to do is believe that He died for us, was buried, and rose again the third day.  I suggest you seek out a pastor of a Christian church and spend some time with that pastor, and in church, learning and understanding what Christ did for YOU!  He loves you so much, and His desire is that you will trust Him as your Savior and allow Him to live His life through you.

Many blessings to you.

Isn't it interesting how God works in our various lives?

I was having problems with a man who owed me considerable money [for me, anyway]. At some point during this strife I wrote a story -- a parable, if you will -- about a man forgiving his debtors at random [it was his business practice], and the influence he had on those around him.

I decided to do as Jesus suggested we pray, and forgive my debtor as he had forgiven me. So I wrote to him explaining what I was doing, and why. For two years that man insisted he would pay me back. I said, "You can do that if you like, but its not necessary because the debt is forgiven and therefore already paid."

He never did pay me back [praise God], and now I have to purpose in my heart to forgive someone because I haven't had a bad debt since.

Doing things the way Jesus told us is fun.

He caught what I did; but had a much milder form
I am Diabetic type 2 and lot of conditons and diseases
When I get ill it affects me differently; because I have a weakened immune system

He quit for 2 years once and went back
Hopefully it is for good now. pinkroses.

I spend 90% of my time within the realm of demons and satan's lair, since that is where the souls are.  I see the Lord most poignantly in correction of myself and when the many come to receive Jesus Christ as their eternal savior, after working with same for a time and finally they submit to Him with zest and wonder.

382 in 40 years and counting. But it is oh so hard and so trying at times and so taxing at the resulting railing of demons and satan.  Tough love, tough work.

Most of my walk is other person centric and watching the moves I make since I am so Boanergez and such a screw up at times.

But I sense the stewardship and the joy of a new borne soul when each surrenders and come to Him.

And to Randy Barlow, and my partner in Cambodia, Armond Hammond, the son of a 3rd generation Black Preacher man, for you both witnessing to me about Jesus Christ till I submitted and came over in Salvation, May 9, 1972. Thank you my kind gentlemen friends who never knew each other, and such persistent friends for leading me to the Lord Jesus Christ, so many years ago in my seasons.

Hail to you both, from my heart,

Robert

oh shoot! what an idiot am I. Sorry cacoca. It is because your screen name sounds like a girl. You do you really play electric guitar? that's a wonderful hobby you know? does electric guitar really sounds like when santana playing? i never touch that instrument i mean i did once that was my uncle's and i sold it when i was young wondering the city and he got so mad at me him and his wife brought the matter to the court and they issued subpoena to me and i hide for 1 year. When i was about to go abroad i had to face that problem because they would not give me clearance to leave and i did. They withdraw the case to clear my name. My past really was an idiotic one. Oh that's so nice you are working full time so you are making your own money that's great. Do you still take medication now and then? Mine its very light 5 mg of cipramil a day. I break 1 tablet 10 mg and it is okay for me but at times i became very lazy and love to just lie down and listen to mellow instrument music. Do you listen to christian music? i do it helps uplift my spirit to pray and it reminds me of Jesus Christ great love and compassion.

God has done so much for me I cannot even know where to begin. I will tell this though. 12 years ago , I met a teen on the street. She had just been thrown out by her boyfriend and had no where to go and no parents. She  looked perfectly normal and you would have never known she was in a homeless shelter. I had an extra room in an apartment my parents had given up and took her in free of charge.

I was put down by many people who knew me, called names, accuse of you can quess what and asked by many who knew my family to throw her out.

People made up bad rumors about her and said she was doing drugs..etc..some of my own family told me to throw her out.

Later I found out she suffered from bi-polar and was always crying. It was from a horrible childhood with bad parents..It was more than I could take, everyday I would get a call something was emotionally wrong. I left work many times to get her out of bad situations.

Everyday people who knew my family wanted her thrown out the building.  One day she left the front door open(she has bad concentration ) and the house was robbed. Everyone said she robbed me and set it up.
Only I knew it was not true. Again God told me do not give up on her.

I still would not abandon her, I saw the good in her.  She lived with me for 3 years. Then a miracle happened and she got her own place from a top doctor who helped her in his mental illness facility. Here is an Amazing twist!.

Almost 5 years later I lost my place due to a fire and had no where to. This same girl let me stay with her for as long as I wanted totally free.

She has became a Chrisitan, learned the deaf ministry sign language and we worship together and speak everyday when I am in the usa.

She is my sister from Christ. Everyone knows her as my sister. It is now 12 years later and she is my closest family member and  just as close as my blood sister .
Over the 12 years she has made me a better Christian and she has brought others into the family of God. I can take no credit for any of this it was the still voice of God that told me again and again do not give up on her. All praise to God.

QuoteHave you seen God at work?

Only the blind have not.

Even the blind can. We have this brother in faith in my hometown church and he always attended the sunday services and fellowships and he is always sharing testemonies of his hope and faith in the Lord and he surely see figuratively how God works in his life and i believe him. You know why? He can hear the beautiful sounds and he can pray and i am sure 100% that God is with this brother more than i can see.

My good Lord! Praise His Holy Name for what you did. You have just deposited a huge treasure in your account in heaven! And i am sure the angels were rejoicing for that simple unselfish act of yours.

I have this prayer for you my brother today.

Praise your holy name my loving Father for creating us a heart that knows how to give and sacrifice for others. Thank you loving Father for though we are sometimes facing a situation where we are confused and feeling like its a dead end but the truth is you are with us all the time of our journey to life. I pray Lord Jesus that you bless this forum and bless all of us here, make us a family that always long to see your coming. Bless Cacoca oh loving Father because he is special to you. It is your promise my Father that you never leave all of us and that if we are lost you will leave the 99 of your flock to search for us. Some of us Father are already in the cliff desperately waiting for your rescue. Make us strong in faith Lord always. I praise you today because you gave me life to see your wonderful creation and the beauty of your majesty in my thoughts. Please take care of my brother Cacoca and be with Him always as you always do. He loves you dear Father because he is your son and you are His father. Thank you dear Father and in the glorious name of your precious Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whome He promised that anything we ask you in His holy name will be given to us; in His precious name i pray Amen.
