Resisted the temptation

Hurray! I resisted the temptation to go to New York City with a male friend of mine, where, if I went I would have shared a hotel room with him.  I wanted to go to New York City with him, but there was no way I could afford a separate hotel room, so after some thought, really the only Christian single woman answer was a big fat NO!  It sounded like fun, like temptation and sin can sound, and it might have been fun to go, but if we were sharing a hotel room, then there is just too much of a chance for funny-business.  That was the only possible good decision that I could have made, right?  (Besides getting two beds or a separate room.)  He is a good friend, who I have known for 12 years +, but he has been making innuendos towards me of a sexual nature, and I know he would want to sleep with me given the chance.  He has been the source of other sinful things in the recent past too, so after being momentarily swept away by the fun idea, I changed my mind and said NO way jose!  He was upset but ohhhh welllll.

Sometimes walking the Christian walk as a single woman of God means denying yourself certain pleasures.  My pleasure that I denied was a fun trip to NYC.  Sigh.  Oh well.  Right decision that I can be proud of = totally worth it.   ::noworries::

Actually I think the Christian thing to do might be to break off the friendship, if he is talking sexual to you on a consistent basis.

I think you would need more info before advising to break off a friendship. People can be flirtatious a lot, and a lot of it harmless. A 12+ year friendship is not a good thing to throw away. And I know many many people who have been best friends growing up and have got together when they were older simply because so in tune with each other and literally best friends.

If he is attracted to you, which he may very well be, and if you feel the same, when your ready and if you both want, maybe you could er 'court' I think is the preffered word ::juggle:: ::pokingwithstick::

Thought about it.  But I don't want to totally break off the friendship, because I have known him for so long.  It is annoying though, in my new walk, to have people come around and try to throw me off the path.  He does do certain things/says certain things that are inappropriate, so sometimes I have thought about breaking things off with him, but for now I am taking the approach of : just because a restaurant sells beer, doesn't mean you have to order it off the menu.  do you get it?  I don't have to buy what he's selling....he hehehe  ::disco::

Breaking it off is the cowardly thing to do... Discourse is the first course and the recourse. If running is your way, you're another divorsee heading for another sepration.

Running and telling someone to leave are two different things. What are we to do with something if it causes us to stumble? Cut it off. If the individual causing the problem refuses to correct themselves...then you let them go their way until they do.

You can still pray for someone without spending time with them if all they do is cause you to stumble. Choose you this day whom you will serve, appeal of men, or God.
