Oh brother...I could write a book on that one detailing some of the things I've done.

Let me share a recent one:  I was at the gas station with the intent to fill up.  I put the nozzle in the tank and selected the grade of gasoline I wanted.  But I heard a beeping sound and the screen flashed another message: Select grade.  Well, after a few minutes of this I got frustrated and then decided to get some help.  I pushed the intercom buttom and said into the speaker "Hello?  Are you out of gas on pump #3?"
"No...shouldn't be," came the response.
"I'm not getting anything here."  There was a pause then I heard, "Sir, change nozzles.  You have the premium in your gas tank but trying to select the regular grade."

Oh brother... ::doh::

Well I once sledded 5 miles down a mountain.  Ever walk uphill 5 miles in the snow?  It's not fun.

I bet you wished you had fallen off about half way down... once you started back up.   rofl

I can think of many stupid things I did and regret, but the one that is at the top of that list is getting married.

I've pre-paid for gas and left without pumping it, but honestly, I've done many things more stupid than that.

As I left for work today I recalled the time I was doing deliveries.

It was a busy supermarket parking lot, with people coming, and going. I pulled into a vacant parking, leaped from the car, grabbed the parcel, and hurried into the shop, leaving the door open. Having delivered the parcel, had the relevant documentation signed, I returned to the car, climbed in, closed the door, put the seatbelt on, and tried to put the key into the front seat.

As you can imagine, I exited the car, grinned sheepishly at the people staring at me, transfered to the driver's seat, and drove off. I often wonder how many times that story has been retold.

I have 3.   But, in my defense, I just could not get behind to the other side and I was very young ---I think it was early 2008.

I was working on a house under construction. I wanted to get finished using my drill. It was lightning. I could feel the heat. I managed to drop the drill before the electricity got to me. I did feel something of a tinge. I decided that I would quit for the day.  ::idea::

I once read about a man who got in his car and drove home from the store--only to realize later that it wasn't his car. It was identical to his--make, model, color, and his key worked in it. I've seen so many just like mine that I look at the back of my car for the damaged taillight. I can never remember the license plate number.

What's the most stupid thing you ever did?

I waste time worrying!
It's an ongoing thing with me, it's unproducive, it's against God's wishes and of course it's STUPID!

Hi avenger,

Would this help?

Worry is like a rocking chair...it's a lot of effort,
but doesn't get you anywhere.

Helps me.

Besides, of course, I'm very much like an obedient soldier that doesn't ask questions (35  years having a Guru) ---Jesus  said  -"Don't worry..."   So..., end of story, I don't worry.
Being a soldier takes discipline, there is no doubt about it.

When I follow instructions in a half a*s way - it just doesn't work. Ya know?

I don't have a care in the world  - He said "Give me your burdens...".  I said, "OK".

It's like a miracle. ;)

The stupidest thing I ever did?..........This is kind of a long story, but it is stupidly bizarre.

I grew up in a small West Texas town outside of Lubbock. One day when I was 17, I was hanging out with one of my friends whose dad was a crop dusting pilot and had a small airport and hanger just outside of town. We were generally bored because of the brown sky sandstorm that was raging at the time. The wind was blowing at least 35 miles per hour. We got the brainstorm to pull out an old parachute that his dad had stored away at the hanger. My friend talked me into strapping in on, leg harness and all. I had never played with a parachute so I asked him what was going to happen. He said the wind would fill the parachute canopy and pull me forward. I intelligently asked, "how do I stop it if I get spooked?" He confidently replied, "Just run toward the canopy and it will collapse." ............I refer you to the above forementioned windspeed!

Needlessly to say, as the canopy billowed fully open, it jerked me about 15 feet forward in one instant. I was immediately spooked and tried to run towards the canopy with my feet hitting the ground about every 10 to 15 feet........I refer you again to the above forementioned windspeed! Since I obviously wasn't going to outrun a 35 mph West Texas Sandstorm, I wondered how I was going to stop. I saw a telephone pole coming towards me rather rapidly so I braced to grab it with all my might as I swept past. With my fingernails still lodged in the telephone pole, the wind proceeded to pull me towards a fairly busy highway. But as luck would have it, there was an electric power line that fortunately was high enough that I skirted under it and cleared the highway in 1 stride. Luckily I did not go airborne! The next obstacle was a dirt embankment dam that impounded the local sewage pond.  I prayed that something would stop me before dragging me through that! luckily I was pulled over a deep ditch next to the highway and slammed into the dirt embankment. Mercifully, the canopy collapsed and I was spared from the sewage dip. As I lay there in pain and agony with the wind knocked out of me,  I was grumbling and cussing to myself as I heard a voice ask, "Are you all right?" I responded, "!@#$%?*..........Of course I'm not I think I broke my blankety blank leg. As I made eye contact with the origin of the voice, I realized it was my preacher that had almost hit me in his car as I careened across the road.

Needless to say, I only related this story to my parents just a few years ago, some 30 years later. I am very fortunate and STUPID!

You know -this is probably a good place to mention that at one time I had this realization:   If we were asked in the afterlife ---
"How did you die?" (Like in the movie Defending Your Life -Meryl Streep,Albert Brooks)

Most often it would be because of a "mistake".     Using a ladder we knew was unsteady, reaching for something while driving, shingling our roof without backup laying there for hours, drinking before swimming alone ----you get my point.

I'll bet mistakes or bad judgement  -same thing - are the highest reason why we die.

if people can admit to having done stupid things I can relate to them, It is those who wont admit to ever having done anything worng that I CANNOT relate to and that I am very concerned about. ::smile::

There was this person I knew, who went on to college and got his construction engineering degree.  But as life has it, being raised in a dairy farm family.  He became a succesful dairy farmer.  After farming for about 30 years, he decided to slow down and sold his cows.  He then went to work at a construction site with this construction company.  Of course you all must know how dangerous dairy farming is, with all those animals and farm equipment.

Well, to make a long story short. He was working on the roof putting the rafters up, and fell.  He broke his neck and died.  See how a college degree is not all it is made up to be ?

::frustrated::

Elaine

Hi chooseone,  ::smile::

No, I heard that one so long ago -maybe in the 80's ---before I became an active Christian it helped me alot - it is so logical.  Worry just does NOT make ANY sense. It changes nothing and only hurts yourself ... it is pure stupidity, imo. Unproductive waste of time...

What other God TV Channels or teachers do you get in the UK?

How about this? In the late 1970's, my cook stove and oven had to be lit with a match--just as it does in my 2005 RV. One day just as I turned on the gas to the oven, the phone rang. I answered it and forgot about the oven. A few minutes later I smelled gas and thought, "I forgot to light the oven." I struck a match, opened the oven, and stuck the match in to light it. It exploded in my face, singeing my hair, face and arms. Fortunately, I had on a T shirt, which protected me from further burns. I asked the person on the phone (my brother-in-law) to come and get me and take me to the hospital. I spent the night there, but fortunately the burns weren't severe.

fanuvmxpx

I know...this isn't me...but Jon Marc reminded me:

My mother turned on the propane to the barbeque and ran inside to answer the phone...she never lifted the barbeque lid to light the burners because of running off to chat on the phone...

So she comes outside, lifts the lid, and turns the ignition nob..*BOOM!*. I've never heard a pure gas explosion in my life, but I saw the flames from my bedroom window (I was on the 2nd floor of the house).

Praise the Lord that she was only scared and not hurt. Who would have thought it would be my mother who taught me how to make a bomb.

llewksgood

As a child my parents had our servant dig a very big pit into which was thrown large amounts of garden clippings, packaging, etc to be burned.

The fire was lit, and well burning as we 5 boys sat around watching it burn, and enjoying the feel of the heat [the soil removed was piled on the perimeter of the burning pit].

A game started, where one would go up behind another and pretend to push them into the fire till, eventually, my youngest brother slid down the loosened soil, straight into the burning ashes. Fortunately we managed to pull him quickly from the fire, but I remember his feet were a mass of blisters.

The game changed to the blame game.

Nevertheless

This is not my stupid action, but it's the stupidest thing I can think of. Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, here ya go:
