Give up trying to please God and win heaven our way and let Jesus who has won  us heaven . And trust  Jesus to do it   his perfect way.

Give up letting sin rule our  lives.

give up being unrepentant

Give up  pride in our self and let God give us pride in Jesus .

Give up letting things distract us from our bible reading or hearing Gods word.

Couldn't I just give up soft drinks or taking an extra piece of sausage at breakfast?

Of course my son... but don't substitute the sausage with an extra pancake.  Go and sin no more. Until lent is over, then of course... take an extra sausage or two.
