I learned from many internet marketer guru that the easiest way of making money online is by doing affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing by definition is selling others people's services and products, and you earn a comission from the sale.

I agree. After being forced into retirement, I did a lot of study on the subject and finally decided to join eBay's Affiliate Marketing program. It's not easy like the OP suggests, but it is rewarding. You just need to learn how to build Websites that promote the product(s) you choose. Make the products self-updating and you can let your Websites earn money for you while you are doing other things. Here's an example of one of my new monetized sites: http://www.bass-fishing-lessons.info .

And to show you all that I'm not just BSing you, here's a snapshot of my last months (Feb) eBay affiliate earnings:

Nevertheless

Ok, OL, how does that site earn you money, and how many sites did you have to make to earn the money in the report?

OneLung

I have 23 sites, but they are identical with the exception that each one promotes a different niche product on eBay. One promotes "used Levis," one promotes "Jeep Wrangler Parts", one promotes "antique Bibles", etc.  All the sites are hosted under my main hosting account that costs me $99 a month. Because the sites are "template" based, I could decide to promote a new eBay product and have a new site online in a couple of hours. Then I would just have to wait for the major search engines to pick it up and index it so people would find it.

For detailed information on how eBay pays me, please read the information at https://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com .  If you're serious about wanting to do it, I would be happy to show you how I did it step by step. There's so much to promote that competition isn't really a factor. :)

There is also a wide variety of other products and businesses to promote at Commission Junction ( http://www.cj.com )

I am glad I got some response from my first post. Besides selling physical products, one can sell ebooks too. Any one have any success, and would like to share with us?

OneLung

Sure. Obviously, the profit margin on eBooks is much higher then it is on physical products, but they are much more difficult to sell. Here's my collection: http://www.onelung.net . eBay banned selling digital goods last summer because the instance of fraud was too high.

sfchin

how about membership subscription ? We can earn comission by refer others to a membership site.

OneLung

I am a member of a message forum that requires an annual membership fee and proof of ones credentials to join, but I don't think they make a profit from it. It's just to keep out the unqualified. Some well known magazines will let you read the current issue online for a price, but I am unaware of any with active affiliate programs.

Do you know of any?
