Ok, I'm a little irritated to say the least. I have a birthday coming up, so I'm getting older, no decent christian man on the horizon, with my biological clock ticking, I've been thinking about IVF. Either by asking a friend to be the donor or going to a sperm bank. It's just something I'm considering amongst other options. And for people that are opposed to it, what's the difference between that and adoption as a single woman. What do u think?

Why not be a tinsy wincy bit more patient with Our Father? HE will give you what you're looking for eventually. I'm sure you want a husband, no? Of course, you need to do your part. Start looking in places you haven't before. Don't jam pack your list. Because you might miss out on someone. I think Elaine has the best advice. Where are you Elaine?!

I wouldn't go to a sperm bank, though. At least with a friend there's that connection. You know what this person and their extended family is like. With a sperm bank, your child may never know their father. I don't think that's healthy. They give you a list of options to select: from eyes to intellect. But will you really know what health issues run in the person's family or whether or not they have an addictive personality?

Tru tru tru Fem! I don't think I'd do it straight away, but I was thinking... maybe wait til 30. I've done the internet dating site, and that was ok... so I'm trying that again. I kno.. if you do something you've always done, you're gonna get what you've always got... so I am trying to try different things... but girl... there are no single christian men!!! Not where I'm from anyway! *sigh*

You're not even 30 yet?! Come one, you have time. Be patient, don't worry.
::noworries:: I feel for you. Have you tried meetup.com? There might be a christian singles one in your area. I joined meetups from scuba diving to web design and never attended. If this is important to you, don't be like me, get up and get out.
Most importantly, pray and always put God first. When I feel lonely and sad, I just start saying thank you Jesus! If I hit my toes on something, while enduring the pain, I praise HIS name, HALLELUJAH...yeah, I'm weird that way  ::lookaround:: But it helps me to not dwell on negative thoughts.

I'm not sure if God wants us to have a child without a mother/father. Have you asked God about this? If His answer is He wants you to have a child, I would imagine He would provide you with a husband. He is very pro-family.

Lol @ "He is very pro-family."

Just have your ducks in a row...having a child is a huge change in your life.  Being a single parent is...taxing.

Being brought up largely in single parent situation myself, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Like already said, God is very into family.

God brought Joseph into the picture deliberatly even though he technically wasn't needed, emotionally - children need both a father and a mother.

Statistically, kids fare a lot less successfully in so many different areas being raised by only one parent. It isn't natural. Widowhood is one thing. Divorce sometimes, is unavoidable, but to deliberatly want to bring up a child without a father..........

I think you'd be sacraficing a childs emotional wellbeing and development to satisfy your own maternal desires. Why don't you volunteer at a local daycare centre or program for special needs or something until the right man comes along?

Interesting point! And I definitely hear that! Ok, what about single parent adoption?

I think the same thing applies. They still grow up fatherless.

Consider the fact that there are many motherless children .  JESUS said suffer little children to come unto me.  Why not ask JESUS about  obtaining a child in this manner.  AMEN

The problem with adoption these days in the west is that you usually have to adopt from other countries. If that's the case then for the same money you spend to raise a single child to the age of 18 you can save hundreds by donating to a good foreign orphange. And in those situations they usually get a superior education and opportunities for further study and to be a source of change in their countries.
