They are making divorce doable online. No lawyer, no waiting, click and split. Based on the fervor with which Amercian Christians argue for never ever ever ever SLOWING the divorce process, maybe this is something the church wants to take up and advocate for the U.S.

Divorce is a civil matter... however the secular government sets it up should not impact how Christians should handle it.

We should only be concerned if the government forces us to sin.

Boy I am glad I live here in the Uk were divorce still takes quite a while. Both mine and my husbands took over 8 months and that was without many problems,. I have had friends whose divorces took 2 years)
I am amazed at the speed that divorce happens in the USA, but on line in Brazil??? What is happening?, I thought that most Brazilians were really strong Roman Catholics who dont even believe in divorce.

Quite frankly the government should have never been allowed into the FAMILY matter of marriage to begin with.
Marriage licensing and government involvement in marriage and divorce is nothing but one more way for crook lawyers to make a living off of human misery.
Oddly enough marriage did just fine for the many centuries where it existed WITHOUT caesars licensing (ie 'permission').

But then, we've turned over Gods church to Caesar as well (church charters) all for the sake of getting out of paying Caesar his due (taxes), so why should christians be bothered that we've handed our marriages over to godless govt ?

Actually BIBLICAL marriage is a family matter. Not even Moses got too involved until divorce and then it was only really to instruct that a writ be given as evidence that she had been put away.
Other than that, and giving a list of persons we ARENT allowed to have sex with in the law, Moses pretty much kept out of the family matter of marriage.
It would have been best if it had remained that way because now some poor young woman stuck with 4 kids when her chump husband runs off with his new girlfriend will end up getting stuck with the $5000 in legal fees that she doesnt have because the bum man who ditched her certainly isnt going to care if hes committing adultery or not....not enough to cough up the money.
Ive seen a lot of horror stories the last 6 years...enough to know that it was a terrible mistake giving our marriages over to a godless government to rule over.

And by all means lets SLOW the divorce process.
That way when some dear young woman needs to get away from her murderous husband she has to stick around just long enough to get the proceedings finished so he has more opportunity to kill her like the gent did here in my hometown a couple decades ago with a butcher knife in broad daylight in a busy street.
She was preparing to disappear as soon as the divorce was done...never got the chance tho.
Yeah, its a REALLY good idea to make divorce take as long and be as costly as humanly possible  

Im entirely for divorce not being so much red tape that when some evil hearted man or woman WANTS out of the marriage that the INNOCENT party doesnt have to pay a terrible price just to appease pious ignorance in the church that seems to believe if we FORCE two people to remain married that somehow its make them work things out.

PAUL (and thus GOD) says "LET THE UNBELIEVER LEAVE"...THAT is a godly precept.

If one party WANTS to divorce...LET THEM ...God Himself will judge the evil on that day. Here and now WE are called to peace....LET the unbeliever leave if they choose to do so. Dont try to force them to stay in a marriage they dont want to be in as that can only lead to even worse treachery against the other spouse.

The ONLY thing that long, painful divorce accomplishes is hurt the innocent party, possibly keeping them AND the children in danger.

If you are serious, you are painfully lost and confused and have truly less than zero idea about how things really are.

if those scenarios were the norm, MAYBE Id agree, but what you have is 180 degrees backwards.

Im not sure how marriage keeps anyone in danger. In this country anyway, folks can, um, LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You clearly have no heart for children as well, because the VAST majority of divorces are UNILATERAL and without abuse or adultry or any of that. I guess children are pawns to you.

Dont try the "kids are better off away from a bad marriage" junk...its definatively proven otherwise.

I hope, with this flippant attitude about divorce that you are at least consistent and dont give a hoot about abortion, same sex marriage, or any of the other sins the church loves to hate. In fact, you need to be dismissive of pretty much any sin, even ones that directly harm another....because thats what divorce does.
