You know, I had a pastor once that said " Rhonda thank you for being nice to the ugly people, I cannot be everywhere." I swear he said that, and, I forever thought him shallow.

I take GREAT pleasure in praising the women of the church who do a great job in cultivating the beauty that Proverbs, Esther, and the gospels talk about, while presenting their physical beauty in a way that doesn't hypocritically send just the opposite message.

You didn't answer, "Oh, that's okay.  You're the pastor, so I have to be nice to you anyway?"

farouk

Sorry, I lost the thread...

Anyway, the main attraction of a Christian lady is her inward and spiritual virtues.

This is true, but nothing wrong with looking, and smelling nice. It is a heart thing, it doe not hurt to look nice outwardly, as long as it does not outshine the inward.

That's right.

No, wish I could have I have H1N1, just my luck. I did think about it today, as I am lying here in PJ pants. Wishing I could go have it done. ::iamsick::

So is there a Claires near you to get the extra pair of studs put in? (for 3 in each side, right?)

Take care.

Yes, I love Clare's, it is so bling, bling. What do you think diamond studs all the way?

Ms light:

Yes, sounds good.

PS, did you mean, all the way, as in all up the ear? or 3 each side?

Take care, and have fun at Claires.

Doesn't the Bible tell us that we should dress in a way that is modest and discreet - doesn't draw attention to ourselves? There are verses that mention that...I'm just too tired to look them up. ::frown::

Anyhow, it bothers me to see women who wear clothes that are too tight - I don't care if that is the current fashion, that still doesn't make it correct for Christians...ditto for overdone makeup...I don't care if a woman is particularly "attractive" - as long as she uses good hygene and doesn't display her underwear. I really think that we ought to be focused on a person's character rather than on her outward appearance.

My only real beef is from a personal perspective: for both genders, please keep the fragrance minimal. Sometime I think people don't realize how strongly they apply it. The smell can get really overpowering; scents can be a real problem for people with asthma and/or allergies.

LOL, true about fragrances. People like the way I smell, I am serious, I have had many people chase me down to tell me. I have little kids in SS, say I smell good. I just wear, cherry vanilla, nothing expensive or overwhelming. If a woman is showing parts, or a man, yes that is not decent. I myself, dress neat, and classy, but what others wear I do not care. I guess I am not distracted.

Silvia

Hey - I like fragrances. Don't get me wrong. I probably like YOUR fragrance, lightshineon! Except if my asthma is acting up - and I have no clue what triggers it - ANY kind of fragrance will make me cough. I don't actually mind coughing - I always think it's a terrific ab exercise! But it annoys some people, and with the concern about H1N1 these days, people get a little alarmed if I'm coughing up a storm...OTOH, I suppose if someone's fragrance makes me cough, I don't have to tell them why I'm coughing - if they think I'm contagious, then they - and their perfume - may leave....but the triggered asthma is still a pain.

farouk

Yes, the inward and spiritual is the most important.

Well, I would want you to tell me, because it would not hurt me, but It might hurt you. I wear it very subtle. I have H1N1, right now, it feels bad. I am sorry about your asthma. one of my girls, and my mom and dad have it. I pray the Lord heals you. ::smile::

dressing situationally appropriate is always a plus.  casual, fun clothing which is flattering in a modest way can make women feel infinately confident and upbeat. smart professional attire for all vocational related pursuits is a given of course.  I think a signature sense of style is great so long as this kind of superficial stuff isn't obsessed over.  never polite to judge one on the percieved "status" that their clothing's label imparts.  I personally am partial to a quirky retro style and love cool vintage dresses from the late 60's - very fun.

I find it so depressing to see really young teens dressing soooo vampy these days.  Preteens caked in make up short shorts, blah.  nothing wrong with an appreciation for the artistry involved with fashion and self expression, but parents really need to temper that with a sense of modesty - along with lobbying to outlaw spandex. haha

Vintage, like, long and floppy?

I tend to like a little more tailored and mod inspired look - but there are definitely some cute flouncy peasant dresses from that era too!  here's a few pics (not of me) that fit my look to a T(I do make sure to sport a more modest hemline though)

Hi, Mr. F, it is not, immodest to me. I was trying to gage peoples different perspective.
