"corrupt" priests and Catholicism

There have been posts from anti-Catholic posters who claim that the mere existence of corrupt priests, bishops or even popes is proof that the Catholic Church is corrupt itself and it is based on false dogmas.

First of all, every Christian Church Orthodox, Catholic or Protestant is full of sinners because with the exception of Jesus we're all sinners. So sure I accept that in the 2000 year history of the Catholic Church there have been corrupt priests and even popes, but I also know that every single denomination has its share of really bad fruits - so their point is irrelevant.

The Catholic Church does not teach that the Pope does not sin, the thing that it teaches is that in the very narrow case where the Pope defines religious dogma ex cathedra he is not in error. The Holy Spirit protects the pope from falling in heresy, not from committing human sins.

So when I see wise guys like Amo trashing our priests and popes, I think "let the one who has never sin cast the first stone". In the end the Catholic Church does not belong to the priests, the bishops or even the pope it belongs to our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Head that nourishes the body. Most priests, bishops and popes are great, inevitably we have some bad fruit, like every denomination that has humans. The fact that there was this Evangelical leader that was sleeping with male prostitutes does not delegitimize the whole Evangelical movement.

When I go to Church I go primarily to be in our Lord's presence and be nourished through the Eucharist. At the end of the day the beauty of the Catholic Church is about its Head: our Lord Jesus Christ

Well this isnt anything new. Check some of the updated posts I think me and my fellow protestants have strengthened our positions against the Catholic organization beyond pointing out the petty mistakes of a few corrupt men. There are better points of view to discuss.

I understand you're frustration but those who disagree with you and your Church have grown beyond our predecessors and use not just scripture but history to defenhd our positions.

Try to tangle with one of us. We wont be easily proven wrong.

LightHammer,

I find your antagonistic attitude pathetic. I see other Christians as brothers in Christ. You seem to see them as competitors you need to "tangle" with.

I come here for fellowship, not fight. My enemy is secularism, not other Christians.

So thanks but no thanks.

Im sorry friend. My natural persona is sarcastic and laid back which sometimes rubs people the wrong way. I didnt mean anything I posted negatively.

I understand fully well how my fellow protestants have attacked the Catholic organization and if you've read any of post youwould see that I have called them out on their blind ignorance and resilence to at the very least understand the Catholic position.

Your intial post didnt give off the atmosphere of fellowship. It gave off an ominous sense of frustrating and anger. I was just trying to reassure you that there are protestants who have more legitimate stands against Catholicism than continuely quoting corrupt leaders or mentioning the Inquistion or Crusades.

You misunderstood what my post was trying to accomplish. Its my fault however. I just have a natural condesending persona because I dont like to get worked up over things.

Peace Brother,

I do view all Protestants as brothers in Christ, which is why I've been surprised by the tone of some posts. In the future I will assume that you mean well.

My initial message tried, I guess not successfully, to convey my belief that the worthiness of the Church is not impacted by the sinful nature of its human subjects.

As Pope Benedict very rightly, IMHO, stated "the church does not exist for herself but must be God's instrument...the church is not at all the merit of Catholics but is solely God's work, which he makes endure despite the continuouse unworthiness of the human subjects

Good to know that we have that settled.
