Back in the day when the "Queen" sent men out to plunder, kill & steal it was ok??

Seems to me we learned what a hero Sir Francis Drake was when I was a kid...........

Come to find out he was just a XXXX pirate...............

Are you saying that Drake couldn't be a hero because he was a pirate?

If that's the case, Peter couldn't have been a Christian because he was a sinner...

A man's life cannot be summed up into "good guy" or "bad guy" quite as easily as this.  Some of the worlds greatest men were womanizing, lying, bastards.

Then again, it also depends on which side of history you are on.

If you were a native american or brittish, you would consider Andrew Jackson to be a murderer and a tyrant, but we Americans hold him as one of our greatest citizens.

If you were from eurpoe, you would consider gengas kahn to be a pilligaging mass murderer, but if you were a mongolian, he united your people and gave you great wealth.

Mexicans hold Cortez to be a mass murderer, we call him a conqueror...

That was a good post.

But it raises the question - to benefit one group, must one take from some other group?

No.  There's a difference between war and free trade.
