Reading aloud, of course, is the best way to build your child's vocabulary, but these tools have been helpful in measuring success in our home.

Wordly Wise: These consumable vocabulary workbooks are fun and easy to use. They begin at about a 4th grade level and continue through to middle school.

Barron's Vocabulary Success: Like Wordly Wise -- but High School level -- borrows word lists from lliterary works of varying styles. Provides exercises and builds reference skills.

mydictionary.com provides a Word For The Day which has become a family morning tradition. The website is deep. Enjoy!
