Kinda Long, but please read, i have a neat true story to tell you about a coincidence that happened to me a few months ago.  I am 20 years old by the way.

A year prior when i was in college i became interested in this guy and also had a "best friend". Anyways,he was just the type i am attracted to but could never find. Average natural look and he just seemed to stand out above all the other guys. He was definitely a hard worker, he was always doing his classwork while other guys were skipping class. When i saw him he would always look at each other simultaneously sometimes and stare in each others eyes. Next thing i know he rode my bus one day and stared directly in my eyes. I was sitting next to my "best friend" and i know she noticed. After she found out that i was interested she told me that one of his friends came up to her and said that he liked her. I thought this weird because every time i saw him he was always alone. After she told me this it completely turned me off. And her being my best i fell back. Not too long after this i visited my public library and he was there! All the time ive been there i never seen him there! He had on green scrubs once again doing his work. He obviously worked at a hospital. He stared into my eyes again as if he wanted to say something. I wanted to so bad but i remembered what my friend told me so i didn't speak. I figured if he should say something. He never did. That was my first year of college and i haven't seen him since.

Now for the good part lol.  Over five months ago my mother was telling me about a very nice guy that she worked with certain nights, she's a nursing aide and works nights to morning. I was and still am single but i really wasn't feeling what she was saying, i had been through alot with people. But she kept telling me how nice, smart and goal oriented he was. I said that it sounded nice but thats what they all say right. lol. Well she kept bringing this up for a month and a half finding out more about him. She finally found out that he was going to two colleges in the day time then worked with her some nights. One of the colleges he attends was the one that i attended at the same time as he did. So she told me his name  that i didn't recognize. So she decided that she would snap a pic of him with her cell phone and i put a pic of me on her cell to show him. Gotta love technology these days lol. She showed me the pic and guess who it was. The guy from college! I told my mother that i had seen him at school and the library and everything. And she said he told her the exact same thing i said and he knew exactly who i was. I thought he wasn't going to recognize me. And by this time i ceased being best friends with my friend because she wasn't truthful and was a liar. But i told my mom that i think he liked her. I believe she lied about it. My mom said that he was very interested in me finding out what i was going to school for and things. Then she found out that he had just started talking to another female in one of his classes. I told my mother to give him my number anyway just in case. She said he was happy to get my number but he didn't call and that was 4 months ago. I was glad that he didn't because that shows that he wouldn't just drop one girl for another.ahh. See the trick.lol.

Anyways, my mother had two weeks vacation and when she went back to work he was switched to a different floor but she still saw him. Then she didn't see him for a while so i figured that was it. She thought he got fired because he kept falling asleep during work and kept getting in trouble. Then a month later she saw him again. I forgot about it for a while but for some reason I still think about the coincidence. And usually if i find out if a guy is basically taken I'm like oh well, move on, but its different this time. What do you guys think. Should this be something i should be looking into? I am not saying we are soul mates but do you think there could be some meaning to this?

Anon, your story touches on one of the great debates within Christian circles - do we have free will?  Or is God guiding us wherever we go?

This isn't the apologetics section, so I won't answer that precise point.  My advice to you is not to let your feelings lead you astray.  It is easy for a young person to believe that they are destined to fall in love with a certain person.  It's a common theme in pop songs, or at least it was back in the days when I bothered to follow the charts ::playingguitar::.

Many years ago, at a time when I was not inclined to be religious, I began to have the feeling that my life was predestined.  I didn't actually take it too seriously, mainly because I did not want to believe in it.  As the years went by, however, I found the temptation harder.  Time and again, fate seemed to be intervening in my life, whether for better or worse.

My advice is this.  Regardless of whether or not you are in control of your destiny, it makes sense to assume that you are.  Even if you are convinced that fate is leading you down a certain route, remember that you might be wrong.  I have often been wrong about things like that.

Okay, let's cut to the chase.  If the young man in scrubs wants to ask you out, then he can do so.  Do not think that you are under any obligation to try to get his attention.  Set out to enjoy your life, and let romance come to you when it comes.

I am sorry that you fell out with your friend, and I wish you better luck with future friendships.

pokhara, pokhara! pokhara! what, what, what are you going on about...blah, blah, blah...predestination..blah, blah. I love this story--this is a great Harlequin romance kind of story this story demands a happy ending. Someone--someone who had some good advice about flirting, needs to tell this young beautiful romantic girl exactly how to scheme and dream and "meet up" with mr WONDERFUL WELL-PAID RN student, get married and live happily ever after and write the rest of the story right here on this church of Christ web-sight. I have to hear the end of this or i'll die!

At your age, you are still learning what it means to be you, 10 years from now, you'r personality and goals will be firmly established, the 20's are that way for most people.  Instead of jumping towards romantic interests, perhaps he's just supposed to be your friend and someone to learn from, in particular, about guys.

The phone number thing was not fair, I call that a red flag and classify that as a game, of which I don't play, but at 40, looking back, I realize how often I was part of someone elses game and I didn't know it.

Calculate the odds here, we have several things pointing towards you two becoming acquantenaces, too many to discount to random odds or coincidence.  I think you are trying to jump too far ahead of yourself with him, afterall, you don't really know anything about him, you don't know him so should't make any rash decisions before you even met, they in fact, may sabatoge what ever could develop in the first place.  He could also learn much from you as well, and I'll leave it at that.

I wish you well, but count me in on the Fate area, you still can choose the path you want to take, gifs like these are not mandatory to accept and life goes on if you let them pass you by, just take note, that perhaps God is trying to give you a helping hand.

Take care, Brian
