It is my considered opinion that in John 1:1-14 we find the whole gospel in a nutshell.  Especially beautiful is verse 14: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us; and we beheld his glory (the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth."

These verses are ones that all people saved or lost should read, they really explain who Jesus is and who God's word can be the whole foundation of our spiritual life's.

It's also interesting to note that these 14 verses constitute the ninth lesson at the famed Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, presented annually on Christmas Eve at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, England.

Heb 8:7  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8  For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11  And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

The gospel of the new covenant thus has many features which Paul describes here , originally given to Jeremiah in Jer 31:31-34 , long before Jesus came -

1. Note that the new covenant of grace is only with those whose fathers broke the old covenant , the House of Judah ['Jews']  and the paganised lost House of Israel [non-Jewish Israel scattered worldwide by God long before He scattered the Jews - e.g. Amos 9:9 ] -

2. Note that the new covenant with Israel, unlike the old covenant , is UNCONDITIONAL, God simply takes a remnant of Israel as His people and says that He SHALL be their God, no option ofered -

3. Note that they do not teach each other, but God teache3s each one , by means of His own spirit  , just as Jesus promised [John 16:13]

4. Note that this is far fom what is taught in modern churches, but is written very clearly by both Paul and Jeremiah , in OT and NT alike -

You might be interested in what Dr. M. R. DeHaan says of the modern church ("Christendom") in his book based on his radio lecture series on Revelation.  He compares the modern "church" to Laodicea.

The modern 'churches' all follow different doctrines devised by men, thus there is no identifiable modern 'church' to compare to anything -

The new covenant [Heb 8:8-12, Jer 31:31-34] states that God alone will teach His church of the new covenant and Paul underlines that the very FOUNDATION of that church is to cease from sin , to become as perfect as God -

Examining the seven churches of God today , they are all in modern Turkey, and all were razed to teh ground long ago, never to re-convene as congregations

Jesus states that he will take only 144,000 saints [sinless] at his return and leave behind all who are still sinners , with much gnashing of teeth by those deceived by listening to the countless disunited [thus apostate] churches

Enoch confirms, just tens of thousands of saints - so that menas that on average there are but a couple of thousand alive at any one time, and God states through His prophets that these are scattered worldwide in all nations - thus the saints are now alone , not in congregations any longer , fulfilling their commission to find the lost House of Israel as Jesus charged the apostels to do, seeking them amongst the gentiles-

The bible thus shows a very different picture than the countles divided churches tell , one has to decide in the end whether to believe God's words or those of modern divided sinners -

My friend, your description of modern "churches" is precisely what Laodicea is all aabout.
