Stephen,

Welcome to GC Message forum.  I think you will find alot of people on this forum that will classify themselves that way.

Emily,

I agree. If the resurrection of Jesus is not true, then Christianity is of little value. Who then, would really want to play religious "games"? Not me.

Praise God that Jesus was resurrected. It is hard to understand those who seriously want to dispute this fact, as it is well attested by historical criteria, and also by the countless lives changed by the indwelling Spirit of the risen Christ.

In my mind, the resurrection is an ABSOLUTE part of confession.

Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

It is VERY clear.

I am new to this, and would call myself a recovering Pharisee. I would like to open a discussion on the resurrection of our savior, Jesus Christ. I have read many books, and find that many believe that as long as you follow His teachings, that is what really matters. I disagree, and believe in his resurrection, and believe that we as Christians are only enables to "die to ourselves" through the power of his death and resurrection. I am concerned for those that deny His Resurrection, and deny his 100 percent equality with God the Father, and The Holy Spirit. I would like input, and would enjoy hearing your opinions.

Christ Bless You All!

Hi Stephen,
I think most on this board believe in the resurrection, and also in the equality of Jesus with the Father and Holy Spirit...at least I know I do.  Without the resurrection of Jesus it would all be meaningless.

Stephen mentioned the power of Jesus' death and resurrection; this reminded me of one of my favorite passages, Ephesians 1:15-21.  This says in part (beginning in verse 17):

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. . . may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray also that they eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparable great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his might strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms."

Man, this is powerful!  God is making available power for us like the power that raised Jesus from the dead!  I wish we could really get a hold on that.  As far as that goes, I wish I could really get a hold on what that means.  Without wanting to appear sensationalistic, I really think that the Church of Christ needs to come to grips with the supernatural nature of God's power--that he does things that we are just not able to do.  I hear a lot of lip service paid to this idea, but I don't see a real belief in the concept.  Maybe this is only true where I am--I have seen renewed interest in the Holy Spirit in many places (oops, I'm slipping into another topic).  I am coming to believe, though, that we will not be the people God wants us to be until we stop depending on our own strength and open our eyes to the totality of God.  Any thoughts?
