My wife just went through a life threatning illness, and it was a very trying time for us...It really messed me up, and the Lord thankfully brought her through being the wonderful God HE is!

During that time i broke down and promised that i would never look at porn again...well guess what...i went to a couple sites, kinda glanced, that led to more, and led to more...where i finally looked for a little bit, and then trying to make it ok...i asked the wife(We had talked about it before) if she wanted to bring it into the bedroom(Thinking it my selfish, wicked human heart that would make it somewhat better...well we did for a little.

It seems that every time i slip with this, something bad happens in my life...im praying it wont this time, and hopefully that is not true, and my mind playing with me...

Just wanted to vent this and thank you all for reading...

(storm, you posted this on two different GCF posts - this one, and the other one is http://www.gracecentered.com/christian_forums/christian-men-sexual-topics/please-read-porn-topic-promises-broken/new/#new)

1.  alcoholics cannot get near a drink without getting sucked in.  porn is worse. so ...?
2.  pray for yourself.
3.  unplug your computer and give the power cord to your wife.
4.  it seems you need to apologize for exposing her to this trash?
5.  put a password on your computer and let wife be the only one who knows the password; make her the admin on your PC
6.  find a friend at church to hold you accountable.
7.  google some porn addiction sites and do some reading
8.  pray for the poor girls trapped in the porn industry.

that is a start.

and,

9.  do a study on grace -- it teaches us to say no to ungodliness; forgiveness is powerful.

and,

10.  repeat to yourself -- "rule #7 ... rule # 7 ..."  (Exod. 20:14;  Mt. 5:27f.)

When I was in federal prison (for my union activity in Chicago) I met a number of men who were there for downloading child porn from the computer.  I'm not saying you do this.  But I will say that they ALL told me that they started with "simple" pornography and "escalated" to child porn.  They were college professors, successful businessmen, military officers...and now, they're lives are ruined.  I too, am a sinner (I didn't go to prison for being a saint) and I learned that the most powerful weapon we have to overcome the snares of the devil is prayer.  When you're tempted Storm, pray.  It NEVER fails.

Do what Jesus did when tempted, he quoted God's word to Satan.  God's word is the sword or weapon that Jesus used against temptation & Satan. Put on the full armor of God:  Ephesians 6:13-17  Whatever you do, do not go near that which temps you.  Use these swords in battle:  James 4:7 "Resist the devil and he will flee from you."  2 Thessalonians 3:3, "The Lord is faithful, he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one."

Enoch

Any computers you have, put them in a very public room. A living room, the kitchen, if you have a study take the curtains down from the windows.

Also, every time you access the internet with no one around, pray first. Make sure you know the fortitude of Christ us at the forefront of your mind.

What I did to get out of this addiction was to speak out that I am the righteousness of God by faith in Jesus Christ as much as I could, even when I did the bad things and that seemed to be important because it took courage and faith to actually say that while I masturbated. Insane I know, but the more I did that and the more I saw how much Jesus Christ loves me unconditionally and doesn't condemn me for it. Which actually made me more free from this addiction until I just stopped one day and I stopped having the addiction of wanting to watch that stuff and masturbate and I haven't gone back and I hope I never will.

Buddy I must say for starters you do not have a selfish wicked heart.
Don't fall prey to that, you have enough right now to deal with. PM me if interested, I counsel in all areas. I'll try to help, thanks take care Mike.
