His words.............quoted:  (after reading them, I have to wonder why he is still here?)

and to Teresa's post, does it make me an atheist because I don't believe in the Judeo Christian definition of "God", which by the way doesn't make me want to change my opinion on the matter since that would be saying "my god is better than your god" at least the way I feel. I do believe in a god, a creator, an architect, a planner of this life that we have been given.

As I said earlier I believe that "God" created us.. but I don't believe that he created us in his image...just that he put life through out the universe and it evolved, and is still evolving. Mountains are still growing and shrinking, sand is still getting blown away, atoms, which I think are the most rudimentary of "God's" creations are still coming together to form molecules and still pulling apart when they are unstable.

you might be right judging from the results thus far that this poll might be misplaced. on A christian site of course the results would be slanted towards "God" but I was hoping that I wasn't the only non christian catholic that would be here.lol I thought that just because this was a christian forum that some people might come just to interact with people as a whole... gather I was wrong

i do like a good back and forth about an issue. as to the moderators post. I don't understand all that stuff... I know they are bible quotes... but does that mean to participate on this forum I have to believe what the forum does? if that is the case then I shall declare myself christian for the forum as I don't hold ties to my jewish, nor catholic roots and am only held to them by their own determinations of how my soul should be handled.

The roman catholic church in my opinion is not protecting the innocence of children rather they are destroying it just to make a point. I wonder what god thinks of how badly his message is being twisted and corrupted in his name. If he truly has an issue with abortion, contraception, sex, or any other of the "seven deadly sins" then let him tell us himself instead of the so called "godly appointed" leaders penchant for hiding behind a book or a symbol

I appreciate the contribution. me being born a Jew, forced to live as a catholic, I personally took to the opinion that I don't really believe in such personifications of "God" in the classic sense. I think of god as the creator, nothing more nothing less but I appreciate your bit of wisdom.

Hmm lots of questions.. let me answer them one at a time so it is easier for you to respond later .

1) am I a christian? I don't know what I am.
2) do I believe in "God" and that "God" is the father? I believe in a higher power. I do not believe however that he can be defined in such narrow terms in my opinion.
3) do I believe in Jesus? I believe he was a man. do I believe he was at all Divine? no. how can I believe in that when people want to deny that he would have had a companion. if "God" created woman and man to come together as a pair I can't believe that Jesus wouldn't be allowed to have some sort of companionship.
4)do I believe in the holy ghost....no.

do I believe "God" is the father? well I believe that what ever higher power out there, which I don't personally feel can be quantified or qualified in any sort of way which created us is the father yes. If I believe it is a Judeo Christian god, or Allah, or Iehova for that matter exists in that sense then I don't believe that "God" is the father.

i am sure in your eyes that makes me something that you can't say on this forum but as I said all the above are opinions. by definition an opinion is an inference not based on fact. Therefore as I said before it can't be right or wrong only popular or unpopular.u

you see that is my major problem with religion. they are so violent about their views I take a live and let live belief about religion I don't plan to kill someone cause they are muslim or budhist, or jewish, or hinduist or what ever for that matter. but you seem to think that violence is the answer.. what about turn the other cheek? where is your forgiveness now? I don't believe in abortion. but I declare in one loud voice, in one difinitive voice to all the women who have chosen abortion. I forgive you. at least they have someone that is going to be compassionate towards them other than those who hold to hypocrytical dogma.

I think the only differences in religion is who is handing you the cup of kool aide.

har har.lol but being the learned scholar I figure you are you hopefully get the fact that I am compairing religions to cults. that there are leaders and followers and most are willing to die because they feel their ideals are the right ones.

maybe I am just picking out the few bad apples but a lot of times in my experiences I have dealt with people of the christian faith who do try to force you to believe what they do. and then there is god's army or as they are commonly known the jehova's witnesses. they are dying for you to join their club... they can be pretty cultish.

I have no problem with porn but I know that there is a time and a place for that. comparing the tombstones with porn pics is a stretch as it isn't as bad as the video they ran on pbs a couple of times. if they played that video in an elemtary school my kids went to I would complain to the school board.

so you are saying if I don't accept jesus of nazareth as a savior I am going to hell? do they have water front property?

] well apologies in advance the question was a genuine one... the thing about beach front property was more to lighten the mood but I don't really believe in hell or heaven. I believe that when I am gone I will be like the light bulb that blows out.. one minute I am alive, the next I won't be. my family sadly enough will watch them lower the coughin and that will be the end of my trek through the journey of life. i know i know what you are going to think about that opinion... let me guess.
no... I don't want any faith. I just want to be a human being and not another tick mark on the dashboard of religion.
was going to stay out of this but since you mentioned me I changed my mind. I am not trying to impress "God" the only people I try to please are the people that I know I don't have to work too hard to please like my parents, my wife, my kids. If anything I would pray to my wife before I would pray to what you want me to believe is "God

He is half Jewish(his mother was jewish) and half Catholic. His wife is catholic.

DaveW

Jewishness is defined as matrilineal and has been for over 2000 years. (Paul circ'd Timothy because his mother was Jewish)

Jewish mother = full Jewish.

P.Rehbein,

The situation has not gone unnoticed & is waiting "final" determination.

Bitter Sweet

Are Jewish people not allowed to post here? Isn't he saved through his wife regardless?

chosenone

Yes they are allowed to post here if they are respectful of the Christian faith, and and no he isnt saved through his wives faith. That is something that you think, but it isnt true. Each of us needs to be saved individually regardless of our spouses faith. We will stand before God alone. If you married a muslim does that make you a muslim?  Thats why you can have one spouse who is one faith, and one who is another.

He will be saved when he believes that Jesus is Lord, confesses that with his mouth and believes with all his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.

and, scripture tells us this about those who deny Christ, from the Man Himself:

"But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:33
