The word (Generation) being used in this sense/meaning/context, it lends the idea to a sure and certain meaning, because none of these events which Christ spoke of, such as the following events listed below have occurred yet, but they are events which must still take place before Christ's final return.

(A) Events During First 1/2 of The Tribulation Period of 7 years

The 7 Year Confirmation of the covenant

The 3rd (End Time) Jewish Temple must be standing on Temple Mount

There Must Be Global War and Geo Political Chaos

There Will Be Mass Food Shortages, Epidemics, and Natural Disasters of Apocalyptic magnitude.

The World Wide Preaching Work ( 3.5 years only: The Rocking of the Nations)

(B) Events Marking Great Tribulation

The Antichrist Entering the Temple and Declaring That he is God

The Desolation And Abandonment of Jerusalem (1/2 goes into captivity)

The Plagues of the Great Tribulation (Trumpets 1-6)

(C) Events Marking Christ's Immediate Return

The Gathering of the Elect From The 4 Corners of The Earth

The Return of Christ in "Visible" Glory

None of these events summarized above occurred after the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus in 70 A.D.

The end time events which are described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, they describe a period with one singular time line with no break. And the events which Christ spoke of, and time they would take place in, these are still future, but very near to be sure.

Promises By Christ

The promise by Christ is therefore that, this "Generation", "Nation", "Family" and "Race" will indeed be preserved until all "these things" as promised by Christ be wonderfully fulfilled.

We must also remember, that when Christ spoke of these events (which are still future), he did so, but directing the message to those who are his "Brothers", the "Chosen ones", and the "Holy Ones of God". And these "chosen ones" whom Jesus was directing this message to, they were individuals who were of natural "Jewish" stock.

Conclusion

There is not one single prophecy in the Bible that indicates that Jehovah's Witnesses fulfill any of the criteria of that which has been written.

Nor did Christ return invisibly in 1914. Christ came once already, and his final return is still future, and he arrives finally at the conclusion of all things. There is no invisible return of Christ between his first coming and final arrival.

The Generation Christ Had in Mind

The Generation Christ spoke of, this is obviously the Generation that is going to witness all these events which will take place in the future. This will be in a time period which can only be described as the most horrific in all human history. And, that Generation will be in the future.
