Since the recent work on the web site, when I try to use the QUOTE feature in responding to a post, it does not produce the entire posting.  Rather I get only the last portion of the post.  It does not seem that others are having a similar problem.  Could that possibly be something at my end?

Brother, I work around the problems on this forum by manually doing it myself and by passing some of their icons. BUT, do not follow me I may lead you into a ditch  ::smile::PM Alan he's the best source to help.

Ditches and such is what 4WD is for.   ::smile:: ::smile::

Are you referring to clicking the Quote button to initiate a reply, or clicking the "Insert Quote" button once you are into the reply box?

The Quote button itself is working for me, but the "Insert Quote" button has NEVER worked for me, not since day one but it works fine on every other SMF forum I visit  ???

Anyhow, if the issue is the Quote button, perhaps try logging out of the forum and back in, if that doesn't help we need to address the issue to admin or Bob Perry.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

The above is what I got when I tried to use the Quote button to reply.  I logged out and then logged back in.  It didn't help.

For what it is worth, the "Insert Quote" button has never worked for me either.  But now the Quote button is giving me a problem.

Okay, now I see exactly what you're referring to. The normal function of SMF is to only show the reply to which you are quoting, rather than "tile" all the previous quotes in succession. Again, not sure how the tiling effect entered into this forum but it must have been switched on by a site administrator, other SMF forums do not tile or stack replies and quotes in succession.

I myself often remove the extra replies when I'm replying to a post, it becomes very difficult to navigate in the busier threads and they quickly become umpteen pages long due to mile long posts for a one word reply. Perhaps admin or Bob disabled the stacking to save some bandwidth  ::smile::

Anyhow, nothing wrong at your end, it's just the way the forum is running now unless admin or Bob had meant for the stacking feature to be enabled and hasn't fixed it yet.

I've always referred to that as "nested" quotes.  Sometimes I like it for the purpose of following the progression of a discussion, but yes, it can become cumbersome and hard to navigate.

I haven't tested it here yet, but on most boards that don't default to "nested," you can do it manually by copying and pasting, and manually inserting the necessary number of quote tags.

Yep, said in a different thread that I was going to focus on getting that quote thing squared away, but ran into some aggravating problems on my own website that took all of my attention over the last week or so... will get back to yuns now as mine is nearly where I want it to be... the default behavior of SMF sites is that nested quotes are allowed on a fresh install... personally I don't much care for nested quotes, depends on the topic being discussed and some users get pretty carried away with it and when that happens it gets messy, so what I most likely will do is disable nested quoting...

I am having the same problem...what was quoted by the last poster does not appear in the dialogue box (for example, if 4WD quotes Red, all I get is 4WD's last response to Red, I don't get what Red said in 4WD's quote).

When I press the quote it says "Loading" and never does anything else.  Is there a simple fix?
