| Guide for Christian Voters
There are many issues in this day to consider when voting for a leader of the United States. We feel that Christians should make efforts to be informed concerning the policies of those aspiring to lead our country. Though we can't research all issues, we try to list a candidate's position on issues that are important to Christians and even to people in general. This Christian voting guide is offered to you as you make a voting decision.

Signed AFTR Pledge Not to Raise Taxes
| Republican |
|
| McCain: |
Signed in 2000. Has proposed tax cuts for all tax payers. |
| Democrat |
|
| Obama: |
Did not sign. Stated he will increase taxes on people and businesses. His proposed corporate tax increase would raise taxes on businesses to 45% from what is already the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world at its current 35% level. Economists worry that such a tax increase would send businesses to other countries where the tax burden is lower (such as Ireland whose corporate tax rate is 11%). Economists also worry that consumers will pay higher prices for goods and services provided by corporations because of Obama's increased tax burden. This would also weaken American businesses from competing internationally with nations paying lower corporate tax rates. Obama also stated he will allow the Bush tax cuts to expire which would result in a tax increase on all tax payers.
Obama has voted to raise taxes 94 times in his brief political career. He has also stated that he supports a major redistribution of income/wealth in line with a marxist socialist viewpoint. Source. |
Abortion / Right to Life
| Republican |
|
| McCain: |
He has cast 31 pro-life votes since 1997. This includes voting for a bill that would prevent minor daughters from being taken across state lines for secret abortions without parental notice or consent, voting against taxpayer funding for abortion, and voting for a ban on the brutal partial-birth abortion procedure. He voted to confirm Justices Alito and Roberts who are both pro-life. He has also voted against endorsing Roe v. Wade and stated he believes it should be overturned. Source |
| Democrat |
|
| Obama: |
He said "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act," in his July speech to abortion advocates. What is the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act?" It is a bill that would remove every single state law limiting or regulating abortion, including the federal ban on partial-birth abortion and would remove the right for parents to know if their minor is having an abortion. In perhaps the most cold hearted and just plain sad of facts, Obama is so radical when it comes to abortion that he was the only senator of either party to vote against the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act that would protect babies who survive abortions and are actually born alive. Source |
