Quote from: Cathlodox on Tue Oct 08, 2024 - 21:54:13Where is it, Amo, that you find Biblical support for no longer observing the Day of Atonement or any of the other feasts of the Lord?

I'll wait for your answer before developing this for you.

So now you will pretend that you do not know? The books of Acts and Hebrews address many obvious changes. Though none regarding the end of the seventh day sabbath, or the beginning of a first day sabbath. You already know this of course, if you believe your own popes and church teachings.

Amo

This is not to mention the teachings and or prophecies of Jesus Himself when here among us, regarding the fate of the existing literal temple. And who or what the real temple of the new covenant is.

If we get Sunday law.... what will that do? How will things change?

Stop avoiding the question and just let us know where you find justification for not observing the Day of Atonement and other feasts of the Lord you evidently blow off.

Acts 15 clearly identifies what a Judaizer is and given you need a little help here I can tell you that the Judaizers LOST the argument they had with Apostolic Christianity.

Now is your big chance to show everyone your Biblical proof for blowing off all those other feasts of the Lord.

The powers that be aren't pushing towards Sunday law... they're pushing towards no-religion-at all.

Is this not obvious to others? Is it just me?

Ok Jarrod.

I have not read that. In fact I have read very little explanation
other then people are panicked at the very idea.

Except Frankoie seems to lean that way and I just wonder what is in it for him?

I wouldn't call it no-religion at all.  The religion would be the state/some kind of secular humanism focused on state/media.

Sunday Law is just a bunch of bunk.  Commerce/Media/State will not shut down on Sundays.

When the abomination of desolation is set up by mans law, in the place of God's holy sabbath in these United states of America, national ruin will follow. As the leading and exemplary biblically based and once Protestant government of this world, its exemplary final rejection of those principles by mandating Babylon's mark and seal of authority above God's, will be the beginning of the very end.

The final contest between those who worship the God of the bible, and those who worship the god or gods of their own creation will come to its climax. God's own will give the final loud cry and warning for this earth, while the majority whom Babylon rides upon will not repent, but rather harden their hearts as did the Pharaoh of Egypt of old. Persecuting seventh day sabbath keepers, and finally forbidding seventh day sabbath observance. At or during which time the seven last plagues will be poured out upon rebellious humanity for supporting the enforcement of the mark of the beast upon all. As all those who will not cooperate, will not be able to buy or sell, and finally face a death decree.

Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

The difference between those who worship the beast and the saints, will be that the saints keep the commandments of God. Obviously therefore, those who worship the beast will not. There is only one commandment of God, which Catholics and most professed Christians do not believe in keeping. Choosing rather their own day which was never commanded or sanctioned by holy scripture. It is one thing to choose not to obey a commandment of God and replace it with another, it is another thing altogether, to force compliance of all to that man made commandment.

At which time humanity will have passed beyond the limits of God's grace and mercy. Therefore will the final global message of mercy be given, and the rebellion of humanity against God be played out. This is the scenario prophesied in the beasts of the book of Revelation, who are ridden and or cooperate with Babylon the great. Most wish to deny the scenario has anything to do with man made Sunday sacredness. Yet there are few institutions which have been as often supported by civil laws throughout history since Constantine's first Sunday law.

QuoteJer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. 9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

Ezek 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD. 15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.

Ezek 16:28 Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. 29 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.

Hosea 4:15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

The nation of Israel was referred to as a harlot by God, when she had illicit relationships with the kings, or nations around her, and their gods. That is to say, when she trusted and relied upon the power of other nations, and their gods, over the true God of heaven and earth. The same no doubt will hold true for those who now claim to be God's people, but have illicit relationships with the nations of this earth, and their' gods. That is to say, with those who claim to be Christians, but are involved in the same.

The writer contends that the great city we are discussing is none other than Rome, and the harlot, is none other than the Church of Rome. For she is that original form of apostate Christianity, that first abandoned the power of the Holy Spirit in favor of the power of the state.  She leaned on the latter, because she had already lost the former. Through compromise, and mixing pagan practices with the true religion, which is an abomination to God, she lost the power of the Holy Spirit, and thus strove for the power of the state.

It is not such a simple thing as to say that the Church of Rome was that apostate Christian institution which first sought the power of the state, over the power of the Holy Spirit.  Moreover, she is the result of apostate Christianity seeking the power of the state, because she had lost the power of the Holy Spirit. Among the various apostate Christian entities of the day, she is the one who gained the favor of the state, to the furtherance of her ends. The struggle between these various groups of apostate Christians requires too much detail to address. The observation of which, would convince any true Christian of their fallen state. The purpose of the following is to establish the fact of her relations, and empowerment, with and by the kings of this earth.

The text of Constantine's Sunday Law of 321 A.D. is :
"One the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country however persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits because it often happens that another day is not suitable for gain-sowing or vine planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost. (Given the 7th day of March, Crispus and Constantine being consuls each of them the second time." Codex Justinianus, lib. 3, tit. 12, 3; translated in History of the Christian Church, Philip Schaff, D.D., (7-vol.ed.) Vol. III, p.380. New York, 1884

Dr. A.Chr. Bang says regarding this Law :
"This Sunday law constituted no real favoratism to Christianity..... It is evident from all his statuatory provisions that the Emperor during the time 313-323 with full consciousness has sought the realisation of his religeous aim: the amalgamation of heathenism and Christianity." Kirken og Romerstaten (The Church and the Roman State) p.256. Christiania, 1879

In A.D. 321, to please the bishops of the Catholic Church, he issued an edict commanding judges, townspeople, and mechanics to rest on Sunday. Yet in this also his paganism was still manifest, as the edict required rest on "the venerable day of the sun," and "enjoined the observance, or rather forbade the public desecration, of Sunday, not under the name of Sabbatum, or Dies Domini, but under its old astrological and heathen title, Dies Solis , familiar to all his subjects, so that the law was as applicable to the worshipers of Hercules, Apollo, and Mithras, as to the Christians."  (History of the Christian Church, Vol. 3, sec. 75, par. 5.-Schaff.)  ( The Great Empires of Prophecy by Alonzo Jones page 391 )

In the above quotes, we see some of the identifying marks of Babylon being fulfilled.  The establishment of the first Sunday law came about through the illicit relationship of those who claimed to be God's people, with unconverted and even pagan kings of the earth. In Constantine, we find the first Emperor of Rome to begin committing fornication with the Mother of Harlots, that is Babylon.(Sabbath, Sunday, and the Abomination of Desolation, chap. 3)

I am not avoiding anything. Nor Am I beholden to you, in any way, shape, or form. I will answer you, when I choose, or if I choose. I leave you with the following pertinent words from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mat 21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: 34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. 39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. 40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Quoted article below from link above. My comments in blue.

QuoteA Local Community Starts a Sunday Closing Petition After Trade Unions and Churches Led the Way

The Christian Institute published on October 3, 2024, that churches and trade unions have joined forces to close supermarkets on Sunday. Now on October 11, 2024, The Christian Institute has reported that a formal petition has been launched by the people to make "Sundays as a guaranteed day of rest."

The Christian Institute published the following update:

• "More than 1,500 people have signed a petition urging Tesco on the Isle of Lewis to keep Sunday special."

• "Tesco's Stornoway store is its only UK branch to remain closed on Sundays, but it is consulting staff about opening seven days a week."

• "Members of the public added several comments on the issue, including: 'The Lord's Day is a great blessing not only for Christians but for society'."

• "Mr. Macleod said: 'Many of us hold cherished memories of island Sundays as a guaranteed day of rest, relaxation and no work — a precious day of family time and worship. However, this simple yet profound day is at risk due to the concept of seven-day trading creeping into our culture. When stores and businesses open their doors on Sunday ... the resulting ripple effect leaves workers with less time to rest, less time for family, less time for church worship and invariably, a lower quality of life."

We are seeing precisely how Sunday laws will be implemented in the United States. Churches and trade unions have united for the common goal of securing Sunday as a day of worship and rest. As a result, the community has launched a petition to persuade political, social, and business leaders to respect the so-called Sunday Sabbath. Typically, petitions are sent to governmental organizations, courts, businesses, or other establishments with the authority to deal with the issue and implement the required changes.

This is what inspiration says will take place:

"The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday ... in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance" (Great Controversy, p. 592).

When churches, labor unions, and local communities unite to advocate for Sunday rest, this collaboration creates a powerful movement that can set a precedent for others. In a prophetic context, such broad alignment by various parties to enforce Sunday rest is what the book of Revelation warns us about in the coming mark of the beast crisis. Should they succeed in keeping this supermarket closed on Sunday, a growing number of Christians will certainly be inspired to follow similar efforts in other regions.

Sooner or later, Sunday laws will be universally adopted as they will be driven by social, religious, and labor coalitions. Sunday observance will play a role in the fulfillment of end-time events as described in Revelation when religious persecution will come to those who will not embrace the mark of papal apostasy.

"Those who honor the Bible Sabbath (Saturday) will be denounced as enemies or law and order, as breaking down the moral restraints of society, causing anarchy and corruption, and calling down the judgments of God upon the earth" (Great Controversy, p. 592).

"The whole world is to be stirred with enmity against Seventh-day Adventists, because they will not yield homage to the papacy, by honoring Sunday, the institution of this anti-Christian power" (Review and Herald, August 22, 1893).

I've been keeping the seventh day sabbath for forty some odd years now. Passed up and or left jobs in order to observe the day according as my faith dictated. Never once have I even considered that the government should make a law to shut everyone else down according to my faith. If Sunday keepers do not have enough faith in following their convictions regardless of what other people choose to do, that is and should be their problem. Not everyone else's by government mandate because of their lack of conviction to follow through with their faith regardless of what others think or do.

Chick-fil-A is a prime example of what Sunday keepers with real conviction of their faith should practice. They just did what they thought was right, and have been blessed for doing so. God will not ever bless anyone forcing their religious convictions upon everyone else. If He believed in that, believe me, we would all be worship Him exactly how and when He wanted us to.

Apparently, you wouldn't know an answer, if I put it right in front of your face. As I already have. There is no longer any temple, priesthood, or high priest of this world to perform the ceremonies attached to the day of atonement. Which themselves were only shadows or symbols of the real.

Christ is now our High Priest, and the sacrifice of animals once again after our Lord has been sacrificed once and for all, would constitute a major affront to God.

http://adventmessenger.org/a-360000-strong-labor-union-tells-political-leaders-to-secure-sunday-for-family-and-worship/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteA 360,000+ Strong Labor Union Tells Political Leaders to Secure Sunday for Family and Worship

"Trade unions will be the cause of the most terrible violence that has ever been seen among human beings" (Manuscript Release, Vol. 4, p. 23).

On October 6, 2024, Belfast Live reported that the Belfast City Council is planning to extend working hours on Sunday. The current law only allows shops to open from 1 pm to 6 pm. However, news of the proposed change in the law to allow shops to open even longer on Sundays has been met with resistance from the Union of Shop, Distributive, and Allied Workers (Usdaw), one of the United Kingdom's biggest trade unions, representing over 360,000 members.

According to Paddy Lillis, the head of the labor union, allowing people to work more hours on Sunday would have a "negative impact on retail workers, their families, and our communities." He also argued that Sunday should be better spent with "families" or in "church."

Belfast Live reported that the union's general secretary made the following statement.

• "Usdaw General Secretary, Paddy Lillis, said: 'Usdaw is disappointed to read news that the issue of extended Sunday trading hours in Belfast is again being discussed by the City Council. This was reviewed in 2020, 2017 and numerous times before that. On all of those occasions, it was determined that such an extension is not the right move'."

• "Paddy added: 'Our members remain opposed to extending Sunday trading hours. Allowing large stores to open for longer hours on Sundays would have a negative impact on retail workers, their families and our communities. Longer Sunday trading would take a heavy toll on staff who would come under even more pressure to work, when they would rather be spending time with family and engaging in community, sports and leisure activities or attending church'."

"Usdaw says it has written to every councillor in the city emphasising it's an 'emphatic no' from them on longer trading times which they say will have a 'negative impact on retail workers, their families and our communities'."

Here we see one of the UK's largest unions asking political leaders to vote an "emphatic no" on extending Sunday working hours. Unions, which say their reason for existing is to protect workers' rights, are also seeking to protect the right of worshipers to go to church on Sundays. This is what they have declared. They need Sundays, not just for family or free time; they also need to protect this day for worship.

This begs the question: Who are the labor unions working for—the people or for Rome—because they are petitioning politicians to protect Sunday for rest, family, and worship? Labor unions, along with the media and the Protestant churches, are truly doing the bidding of Rome. Powerful labor unions, which exert significant influence on labor, commerce, industry, politicians, and society in general, are engaging in a campaign to promote the papal mark of apostasy.

When labor unions begin to promote Sunday as the Lord's Day, this sets a dangerous precedent because they are serving as an agent for the church by promoting religious interests. This will lead to the erosion of our civil and religious liberty during the mark of the beast crisis. This type of pressure and advocacy can sway public opinion and policy in favor of religious groups, undermining the separation of church and state. Such a development is problematic in pluralistic societies where multiple religions and belief systems coexist.

Sunday laws are returning, and their purpose is to limit our behavior on Sundays. This is intended to encourage people to go to church on Sundays because, in the opinion of Sunday supporters, they are essential to maintaining the moral and social fabric of society. Sunday rest by law conflicts with God's moral law. God's law, which supersedes all human laws, commands us to rest on His seventh-day Sabbath, or Saturday. Additionally, God's law designates Sunday as a working day. As evidenced by Exodus 20:8–11, God Himself actually set the example by working on Sunday, the first day, and resting on Saturday, the seventh.

"The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul. The observance of the false sabbath will be urged upon us. The contest will be between the commandments of God and the commandments of men" (Prophets and Kings, p. 188).

"The Sunday movement is now making its way in darkness. The leaders are concealing the true issue, and many who unite in the movement do not themselves see whither the undercurrent is tending. Its professions are mild and apparently Christian, but when it shall speak it will reveal the spirit of the dragon. It is our duty to do all in our power to avert the threatened danger. We should endeavor to disarm prejudice by placing ourselves in a proper light before the people. We should bring before them the real question at issue, thus interposing the most effectual protest against measures to restrict liberty of conscience" (Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 452).

http://adventmessenger.org/according-to-a-secular-non-profit-academic-think-tank-university-students-need-sundays-off-for-church-rest-and-mental-health/

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteAccording to a Secular, Non-profit Academic Think Tank, University Students Need Sundays Off for Church, Rest, and Mental Health

Minding the Campus is a subsidiary of the National Association of Scholars (NAS), a New York City-based secular, nonprofit organization that publishes "essays and short pieces written by professors, academics, students, journalists, and concerned citizens" in an effort to promote reasoned scholarship at American universities. In an article titled "Students Need Rest; Christian Colleges Should Set the Example," published on October 18, 2024, Minding the Campus urged colleges and universities nationwide, both Christian and secular, to make Sunday a priority for students to attend church, relax, and take a break. The essay stated that securing Sunday rest would help students feel less pressured by the rigorous academic and work schedules that leave little time for mental recovery, which can lead to stress and negatively impact their wellbeing.

Minding the Campus published the following:

"Sundays used to signify a day of rest, reflection, and worship—now, for college students, they signify 11:59 p.m. deadlines and endless Canvas notifications. The constant pressure of online grading systems and classes keeps students in a state of perpetual stress—even at Christian colleges, where Sabbath-honoring should be prioritized. Said religious universities ceaselessly stress the significance of worship, emphasizing that weekly chapel requirements are no substitute for Sunday service, while hypocritically following the oppressive secular model of interminable technological attachment."

• "There is a constant pressure to keep up. Even when you've done everything required, it feels like there is something still to be done ... This pressure is even greater for an online class, where such a system gives students the false impression that they must be continuously plugged in and pumping out assignments to be productive in the course."

• "Young adults are constantly warned of technological obsession through the overuse of social media, and yet, they are also trained to be ceaselessly available to respond to emails and submit assignments regardless of the date or time. This does not trivialize the threat of social media; however, it would be of great benefit to students' mental health if educators and curriculum designers, particularly in Christian universities, abide by the Biblically derived idiom, 'Practice what you preach'."

University students do have demanding schedules, with back-to-back classes, study sessions, assignments, and, for many, part-time jobs to help cover expenses. Minding the Campus says that the constant pace and lack of downtime leave no time for recovery and claims that if students were to take Sundays off for rest and worship, they could benefit from a structured break each week.

According to these so-called "experts" who are dedicated to researching and analyzing campus life, Sunday rest is the solution to reset mentally. Sunday is the day to reflect and connect with your values and community. Sunday would not only give them a needed physical and mental rest but also serve as a weekly anchor, helping them refocus and manage their lives. Sunday rest and worship is the answer to a healthier balance and more sustainable academic performance.

While there is a wealth of statistical evidence demonstrating that the human body and mind absolutely need rest to function well, there is no scientific or biblical proof that we must get our rest on Sunday. Students and people in general certainly need more rest to reduce stress, improve focus, and prevent burnout, but why is it that the consensus from everyone, including academia, agrees that Sunday is the solution to save society? You will find this same consensus among most Christians, labor unions, politicians, and the mainstream media who believe that Sunday, not Saturday, is the universal day of rest.

God, in His wisdom, created rest during creation week. In Genesis 2:2, 3, God "rested," "blessed," and "sanctified" the seventh day, meaning He set it apart for a holy or religious use and for a time of rest. Through these three distinct acts, the day of rest was established. It was committed to Adam, the father of our race, and was made into a memorial of creation. This rest was also enshrined in the moral law (Exodus 20:8–11). This holy Sabbath rest is at the same time a sign of sanctification, a sign of the believer's rest from his own works of sin and his entrance into the rest of the soul, which Jesus promises to those who come to Him according to Hebrews 4:1–10.

Before sin entered our world, the Sabbath was a memorial to the living God. Before sin destroyed the perfect peace and unity that existed in the Garden of Eden, the Sabbath had been established, blessed, and sanctified by the Lord. And this memorial of God will live on throughout eternity in the earth made new (Isaiah 66:22, 23). Yes, after this world has been purified and all the marks of sin have been forever removed, Saturday, not Sunday, will remain for all eternity as the true day of worship for the Creator.

Today, the world has sanctified the first day of the week and is participating in a fraud, a lie, a deception. Millions believe that Sunday is the day of rest, but as long as God endures, as long as His word is true, and as long as the earth remains, the seventh-day Sabbath is a rebuke to all those who are worshiping on the wrong day. Regardless of how many times people tell us that Sunday is the Lord's Day, the Fourth Commandment remains unchanged and requires observance of the seventh-day Sabbath.

QuoteA Political Party in India Calls on Legislators to Keep Sunday Work-Free and not Stray from Christian Principles

The Mokokchung Times, an independent newspaper in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland state in India, reported on November 6, 2024 that one of its local political parties had asked local legislators and municipal leaders to defend Christian values and protect Sunday as a holy day. The Rising People's Party criticized the government's decision to allow secular business transactions on Sunday to accommodate tourists during the annual Hornbill Festival, a week-long cultural celebration organized by the state government.

In its protest, the Rising People's Party warned that Sunday is the day of rest and should not be like any other work day and urged political leaders not to deviate from Christian ethics and principles.

The Mokokchung Times reported the following:

• "The Rising People's Party (RPP) has issued a strong statement urging the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to reconsider its decision to declare Sundays as a day for business transactions. The party emphasized that Nagaland is a Christian state and asserted that every other citizen of India who has made Nagaland their homes are guests of this state."

• "The RPP criticized the state government's prioritization of the Hornbill Festival over the sanctity of the Sabbath, stating, 'It's unbecoming of the state government to give undue importance to Hornbill Festival while utterly neglecting the sacrilege being committed on Sabbath days by its affiliated agencies such as the DMC'."

• "It befuddles the RPP that under the garb of the so-called 'Festive Season' the DMC should normalize Sabbath day as any other day of the week,' the RPP press statement read."

• "In addressing the issue of Sunday shop openings, the RPP called for all legislators across political parties and various church organizations to reach a consensus. "It's imperative that the Christian state of Nagaland take this issue seriously," it urged. The party stressed that the government and its affiliate organizations must recognize that despite our varied political stance and views we do not stray from the core principles of Christian ethics and principles."

"The RPP issued a warning, stating, 'Unless we the stakeholders take corrective measures now, the coming generation of Nagas will end up as 'Wokes' or spiritual illiterates, and this may well spell the end of our culture and identity, including our Christian identity'."

This is exactly how Sunday laws will be passed. In this particular case, we see an organized body of people who share common political goals who are pushing for Sunday to be respected by government leaders. They are basically telling those in authority that they are guilty of desecrating Sunday by permitting widespread buying and selling, which in their minds threatens to erode the Christian culture and heritage that values this day as sacred.

This is happening right now in India. Christians in India are fighting for Sunday to prevent this day from becoming just another business day. They claim that Sunday is an integral part of their Christian identity, and they are fighting to preserve it. Sunday has indeed become a special day of significance throughout the entire world, and Christians are advocating for their so-called Sabbath to be respected by those in political offices.

It won't be long. Sunday will soon become the focal point once again in America. Even in our nation, there is a movement working to preserve this day to be free from commerce. In the final conflict, all earthly powers will unite to enforce laws compelling worship on a day that has not been divinely sanctioned for worship—Sunday.

"The substitution of the false for the true is the last act in the drama. When this substitution becomes universal, God will reveal Himself. When the laws of men are exalted above the laws of God, when the powers of this earth try to force men to keep the first day of the week, know that the time has come for God to work. He will arise in His majesty, and will shake terribly the earth. He will come out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the world for their iniquity" (Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p. 980).

Interesting, that Sunday is being called the sabbath, and that its observance should be maintained by the state in order to help combat wokeness. One of the very things our new President intends to combat as well, and rightly so. The question is how far he will go to do such. Will he also seek to more firmly establish Sunday sabbath through legislation as well? Time will tell.

This also continues to add one reason after another to the list of reasons Sunday keepers want their day protected and therefore also enforced upon all. This is only because they have hijacked the many personal and societal benefits and blessings of observing God's sabbath, and transferred them to a day of their own choosing.

And whose choosing was it originally, but that of "BABYLON THE GREAT'S". And what are all these Sunday sacredness proponents doing but drinking the wine of Babylon, and seeking to cause all others to do so as well.

APOSTOLIC LETTER DIES DOMINI by John Paul II

63. Christ came to accomplish a new "exodus", to restore freedom to the oppressed. He performed many healings on the Sabbath (cf. Mt 12:9-14 and parallels), certainly not to violate the Lord's Day, but to reveal its full meaning: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mk 2:27). Opposing the excessively legalistic interpretation of some of his contemporaries, and developing the true meaning of the biblical Sabbath, Jesus, as "Lord of the Sabbath" (Mk 2:28), restores to the Sabbath observance its liberating character, carefully safeguarding the rights of God and the rights of man. This is why Christians, called as they are to proclaim the liberation won by the blood of Christ, felt that they had the authority to transfer the meaning of the Sabbath to the day of the Resurrection. The Passover of Christ has in fact liberated man from a slavery more radical than any weighing upon an oppressed people — the slavery of sin, which alienates man from God, and alienates man from himself and from others, constantly sowing within history the seeds of evil and violence.

The following is from the CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

2190 The sabbath, which represented the completion of the first creation, has been replaced by Sunday which recalls the new creation inaugurated by the Resurrection of Christ.

The following is taken from THE AUGSBURG CONFESSION OF FAITH Which Was Submitted to His Imperial Majesty Charles V at the Diet of Augsburg in the Year 1530. by Philip Melanchthon Article XXVIII.  Even then, the Catholic Church claimed to have changed the Sabbath.

Moreover, it is disputed whether bishops or pastors have the right to introduce ceremonies in the Church, and to make laws concerning meats, holy-days and grades, that is, orders of ministers, etc. They that give this right to the bishops refer to this testimony John 16, 12. 13: I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth. They also refer to the example of the Apostles, who commanded to abstain from blood and from things strangled, Acts 15, 29. They refer to the Sabbath-day as having been changed into the Lord's Day, contrary to the Decalog, as it seems. Neither is there any example whereof they make more than concerning the changing of the Sabbath-day. Great, say they, is the power of the Church, since it has dispensed with one of the Ten Commandments!

Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism 3rd ed., p. 174.

"Question: Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?

"Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her-she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."

John Laux, A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies (1 936), vol. 1, P. 51.

"Question: How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holy days?

"Answer. By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church.'

James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter.

"Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day - Saturday- for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes. Did Christ change the day'? I answer no!

"Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons"

Catholic Virginian Oct. 3, 1947, p. 9, art. "To Tell You the Truth."

"For example, nowhere in the Bible do we find that Christ or the Apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of God given to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath day, that is the 7th day of the week, Saturday. Today most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the [Roman Catholic] church outside the Bible."

Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Converts Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1957), p. 50.

"Question: Which is the Sabbath day?

"Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day.

"Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?

"Answer. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."

Peter R. Kraemer, Catholic Church Extension Society (1975), Chicago, Illinois.

"Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts:

"1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man.

"2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church, instituted by Christ to teach and guide man through life, has the right to change the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages and a thousand other laws.

"It is always somewhat laughable, to see the Protestant churches, in pulpit and legislation, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in their Bible."

From the Catholic Mirror of Sept. 23, 1893

The first proposition needs little proof. The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission changed the day from Saturday to Sunday. We say by virtue of her divine mission, because he who called Himself the "Lord of the Sabbath," endowed her with His own power to teach, "he that heareth you, heareth Me;" commanded all who believe in Him to hear her, under penalty of being placed with the "heathen and publican;" and promised to be with her to the end of the world.

From the Catholic Mirror of Dec. 23, 1893

"The arguments contained in this pamphlet are firmly grounded on the word of God, and having been closely studied with the Bible in hand, leave no escape for the conscientious Protestant except the abandonment of Sunday worship and the return to Saturday, commanded by their teacher, the Bible, or, unwilling to abandon the tradition of the Catholic Church, which enjoins the keeping of Sunday, and which they have accepted in direct opposition to their teacher, the Bible, consistently accept her in all her teachings. Reason and common sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives; either Protestantism and the keeping of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping of Sunday. Compromise is impossible."

Rome's Challenge www.immaculateheart.com/maryonline Dec 2003

"Most Christians assume that Sunday is the biblically approved day of worship. The Catholic Church protests that it transferred Christian worship from the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday, and that to try to argue that the change was made in the Bible is both dishonest and a denial of Catholic authority. If Protestantism wants to base its teachings only on the Bible, it should worship on Saturday."

Catholic Virginian, October 3, 1947, p. 9, article "To Tell You the Truth.

The Catholic Encyclopaedia, vol. 4, "The Ten Commandments", 1908 edition by Robert Appleton Company; and 1999 Online edition by Kevin Knight, Imprimatur, John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York.

"Written by the finger of God on two tables of stone, this Divine code (ten commandments) was received from the Almighty by Moses amid the thunders of Mount Sinai...Christ resumed these Commandments in the double precept of charity--love of God and of the neighbour; He proclaimed them as binding under the New Law in Matthew 19 and in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5)...The (Catholic) Church, on the other hand, after changing the day of rest from the Jewish Sabbath, or seventh day of the week, to the first, made the Third Commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be kept holy as the Lord's Day...He (God) claims one day out of the seven as a memorial to Himself, and this must be kept holy..."

St. Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.

"Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. 'The day of the Lord' was chosen, not from any direction noted in the Scriptures, but from the (Catholic) Church's sense of its own power...People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy." St. Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.

Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia, August 1900.

"Sunday is a Catholic institution and its claim to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles...From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia, August 1900.

Our Sunday Visitor, February 15, 1950.

"Protestants...accept Sunday rather than Saturday as the day for public worship after the Catholic Church made the change...But the Protestant mind does not seem to realize that...In observing the Sunday, they are accepting the authority of the spokesman for the church, the Pope." Our Sunday Visitor, February 15, 1950.

The Catholic Universe Bulletin, August 14, 1942, p. 4.

"The (Roman Catholic) Church changed the observance of the Sabbath to Sunday by right of the divine, infallible authority given to her by her founder, Jesus Christ. The Protestant claiming the Bible to be the only guide of faith, has no warrant for observing Sunday."

Amo, you still haven't answered the question. Posting lengthy quotes from others works is not dealing with the question. You should be able to, in your own words, directly answer the question as to why one of the Lord's ceremonial feasts stands out from all the others and why (as your Church claims) will be the final test of faith.

My own words, just like your's and all other's, are dust like us. Here today gone tomorrow. Unless they be in accordance with the word of God which stands fast forever. You have been shown the truth from God's word, which I have quoted and addressed extensively. I would tell you to go to, and find the words of some other mere man to rely upon, as I have no interest in anyone hanging upon my words. But I believe you have already done so.

I have no interest in getting people to believe my own words. All should seek to understand, acknowledge, and believe in the word of God. Holy scripture.

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteThe Powerful US Conference of Catholic Bishops Claims that the Best Way to Honor Laudato Si' is to Implement Sunday Rest for the Good of the Environment and Society

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is the governing and unifying body of American Catholics, providing moral, spiritual, theological, public policy, and pastoral guidance to American Catholics and policymakers. Strategically located in Washington, DC, the USCCB interacts directly with legislators and federal agencies on issues that align with Catholic teaching. As the central organization representing the Catholic Church in the United States, the USCCB also coordinates with the Vatican ambassador to the United States, known as the Papal Nuncio, or the official representative of the Holy See's ecclesiastical authority. In other words, the USCCB exerts significant influence in the United States through its advocacy efforts, engagement with high-level government leaders, and mobilization of grassroots initiatives through parishes and diocesan networks.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gathered for their annual fall meeting from November 11-14, 2024, in Baltimore, and called for all to honor the Sunday Sabbath and to turn to the sacrament of the Eucharist for the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato Si'. The Rome-based news agency Aleteia published the following:

• "US Bishops' Conference discusses plans for 10th anniversary of Laudato Si', Pope Francis' encyclical on care for creation."

• "Catholics would do well – and the environment would benefit – by paying greater attention to certain 'pauses' in their everyday lives, including a more faithful observance of Friday abstinence from meat and the Sabbath rest.

• "That was the suggestion of a bishop who chairs the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development."

• "Archbishop Borys Gudziak, together with Bishop A. Elias Zaidan, Chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace, addressed the bishops' conference's annual fall meeting in Baltimore November 13 on implementing Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical on care for creation, Laudato Si'."

• "Because creation is connected to everything human, our efforts around Laudato Si' need not be weighed down by many new programs and tasks. Rather, Laudato Si' can be integrated into our core mission of evangelization."

• "We live in a world of constant work and stimulation, with ever-present phones, screens and gadgets. In essence, our world does not rest and struggles with leisure."

• "Christian care for creation is nourished by the Sabbath precept of rest for the land, forgiveness, restoration, festivity, and freedom ... Our hyperactive world yearns for the Sabbath, which is expressed in the Sunday Eucharist when the Lord makes 'all things new.'"

The movement to reestablish Sunday as a universal day of rest is a multi-faceted effort involving Protestants, Catholics, labor unions, social groups, media networks, business leaders, and others, each with distinct motivations but overlapping goals. Religious organizations often lead the charge, emphasizing Sunday as a sacred day for worship and family, rooted in biblical traditions and historical observance. Labor unions and worker advocacy groups champion the cause as a way to combat overwork and promote employee well-being, arguing that Sunday is the collective day of rest. Social and community leaders also support the initiative, seeing it as a means to strengthen family bonds and to counter the relentless pace of modern life. Business leaders sometimes advocate for Sunday rest in order to increase productivity and job satisfaction during the workweek. Together, these diverse actors form a coalition that appeals to both spiritual values and secular ideals of rest and community.

Rome is no exception. They will play a major role in advocating for Sunday rest. The restoration of Sunday in society will be promoted by both Protestants and Catholics. Even in Protestant America, Rome is helping to achieve this and will no doubt be one of the "leading churches" directing the campaign for Sunday laws:

"When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result." (Great Controversy, p. 445).

"These records of the past clearly reveal the enmity of Rome toward the true Sabbath and its defenders, and the means which she employs to honor the institution of her creating. The Word of God teaches that these scenes are to be repeated as papists and Protestants shall unite for the exaltation of the Sunday"(Great Controversy, p. 578).

"Under one head—the papal power—the people will unite to oppose God in the person of His witnesses. This union is cemented by the great apostate. While he seeks to unite his agents in warring against the truth" (Testimonies, Vol. 7, p. 182).

QuoteChristians are "Fuming" over Sunday Openings in a Divided Community

Christians in the United Kingdom are expressing frustration after a Tesco retailer located in Stornoway, which is considered to be part of Britain's Bible Belt, decided to operate on Sundays, which are considered by Catholics and the majority of Protestants to be the day of rest and worship. The local religious community has been protesting Tesco's plan to operate on Sundays by putting up signs that read, "Remember the Sabbath," at shoppers entering the store.

Critics of the Sunday openings argue that such practices place unnecessary pressure on employees to work on a day that should instead be spent on spiritual reflection in church. This so-called desecration of the Sunday Sabbath has caused Christians to come together for a renewed emphasis on calling for the community to keep Sunday holy.

MSN News published the following article titled "Christian Fundamentalists Fuming over Tesco Opening on Sabbath Day in Britain's Bible Belt" on November 18, 2024:

• "Christian campaigners on a Scottish Island were deeply upset at their local Tesco deciding to open on Sundays."

• "Members of the religious community took to the outside of the shop on the first open Sunday in a silent protest, holding signs reminding customers to "Remember the Sabbath."

However, not everyone was upset with the decision to open on Sundays. Some members of the community were actually praising the decision.

• "But despite the protest, the branch saw a full car park within 10 minutes of opening. Happy shoppers said the decision was 'well overdue,' and that it was time for the Church's influence over people's lives to stop."

• "Retired plumber William Macdonald said: 'It's long overdue. I am more than pleased, especially for the tourists. It's good for the islands and its progress. Times have changed'."

• "Bus driver John Macleod echoed these remarks and said: 'This is my first shop of the week so I'm glad it's open. It is well overdue. The Church should keep its nose out of people's business. I hope it's here to stay'."

• "Another woman, who did not want her name shared, said: 'We are in the 21st century and some people here are culturally suppressed. Religion is being used to control people's lives but times have changed'."

• "It has been a strong tradition on the Isle of Lewis to observe the Sabbath, and more than 2,000 people signed a petition to oppose the Sunday opening."

The religious communities advocating for Sunday closures are showing no signs of slowing down their efforts. They are committed to continuing the fight and are remaining steadfast in their so-called moral imperative to secure Sunday rest by law if necessary. These churches are on a misguided mission to protect Sunday as the day of rest and worship for family and community.

Around the world, including the United States, there is a campaign to mobilize Christian groups to influence policymakers to restore religious principles and teachings. With increasing momentum, churches are working to build alliances with community and political leaders, urging them to champion their cause. Advocates believe that once they gain the necessary political support and public backing, they will achieve the legislative recognition they seek, ensuring that Sunday becomes a legally protected day of rest, a move they say will benefit both society as well as the soul.

"The dignitaries of church and State will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance. Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected" (Great Controversy, p. 592).

QuoteMajor Global Media Company: "Why Sunday Should Still be a Day of Rest—Shops Should Close so that Families can Stay Together"

If you were ever wondering if the media was part of the conspiracy to push Sunday closures in society, there is no more need to wonder. One of the largest news media companies in the world has just voiced its support for closing stores on Sunday. The Daily Mail is a major British newspaper and media outlet and one of the most visited English-language news websites globally, averaging 314,000,000 monthly visitors.

On November 20, 2024, the Daily Mail weighed in on the controversy surrounding the small island town of Stornoway in Scotland. In an article titled "Why Sunday should Still be a Day of Rest, says Peter Hitchens—Shops should close so that families can stay together—just like in my childhood," the Daily Mail advocated for the return to a time when Sundays were respected by society and families were more united. The article expressed the following:

• "The people of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis are still fighting against the supermarket giant's decision to start trading on the Sabbath on November 17. It is part of a long, slow war between the modern world and the old one, which reached its final stage with the introduction of Sunday air services to the island, in 2002, and Sunday ferries in 2009. Yet Lewis still has a very high proportion of Christian believers, and the idea of Sunday as a day of rest is still one of the Ten Commandments."

• "The Lord's Day Observance Society and the National Secular Society have both been involved in the Stornoway stand-off."

• "I am very sorry for the Christians of Lewis. Couldn't we still have somewhere in these islands where the old ideas were still respected?"

• "There has to be some time when families can get together. If there is no such time, families can weaken and break, as they lose proper contact with each."

• "It isn't the person who works on Sunday who is damaged by it. It is the people who would have preferred him or her to be at home."

• "I remember Sundays as they were in this country 60 years ago.
In the small Devon town where I was at boarding school, the loudest noise was that of church bells. The streets were bleakly empty. Traffic was sparse. The pubs opened for two hours at lunchtime and then for three hours in the evening, in both cases after church services had finished."

• "It is in fact a very good description of the somnolent, silent, domestic Sundays we all once had, perhaps relieved by an uplifting Charles Dickens adaptation on the TV. It was a day quite different from any other day, and I miss it."

"You do not need to be part of it to be impressed by the unity of it, and – if you are me – to envy the peace and release from the clangour and urgency of everyday."

There is a culture war raging between secular and religious groups. In this conflict, we know who will come out on top. Bible prophecy warns us that the beast, the image, the ruling kings, the merchants of the earth, and apparently news media companies will all be conspiring together to impose a false system of worship. In the context of prophetic interpretation drawn from Revelation 12–18, enforced Sunday worship will become the mark of the beast during the final crisis.

This view is rooted in the idea that the "beast" represents a power that seeks to enforce religious doctrines that are contrary to God's commandments, specifically the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday). During this time, the beast and its image—symbolizing a union of church and state—will compel global allegiance by mandating Sunday worship, a tradition that is based on human authority rather than divine law. Those who resist, adhering instead to God's law and the Sabbath, will face persecution. This test of loyalty will distinguish those aligned with the Creator's authority from those who submit to human systems of worship, culminating in the sealing of God's faithful and the condemnation of those who receive the mark of the beast.

Whenever we hear calls to bring back Sunday as the weekly day of rest, we can know for certain that these are attempts to mobilize people into political action for sinister purposes. The truth is that Sunday will never become the day of rest and worship without enforcing this day through state power. Laws can limit people's actions, but they can't change their hearts. Instead of restoring society through the union of church and state, these actions will lead to the implementation of the mark of the beast during the final crisis. All false doctrine and oppressive dragon-like actions by governments will soon vanish during the outpouring of the seven last plagues (Revelation 16). Our only hope is to rely on God and His Word.

"Sooner or later Sunday laws will be passed. But there is much for God's servants to do to warn the people" (Review and Herald, February 16, 1905).

"Those who are under the influence of a false religion, who observe a spurious rest day, will set aside the most positive evidence in regard to the true Sabbath. They will try to compel men to obey the laws of their own creation, laws that are directly opposed to the law of God. Upon those who continue in this course, the wrath of God will fall. Unless they change, they cannot escape the penalty. The law for the observance of the first day of the week is the production of an apostate Christendom. Sunday is a child of the papacy, exalted by the Christian world above the sacred day of God's rest. In no case are God's people to pay it homage" (Testimonies, Vol. 9, pp. 234, 235).

I guess that should stop... along with the church end cause due to physical limitations at the moment I cannot go... and due to people getting sick then dieing for decades that I took care of or helped to
church became on TV or PC.....with the occasional visit. (I have been a member of mine for 52 years this year)

But then if we go to church on the day we worship look how many people have to work.

The Pastor, the aids, Elders and Deacons) (Sunday School teachers) and those that set up the baptisms and communions. the choir. ( I would not miss them) and the
electrical guy who gets it on the PC.

The people who clear the snow...
So many for that hour and 10 minute service from a bible I dont read.... NIV

Nope. Should be no church on Sunday and should be not church on the Sabbath....

We should all be Quakers. They may end up being the only true believers saved??? But not in a Meetinghouse. We can all be quiet together from our homes ::nodding::

Vatican City, 11 September 2023 - A "House" with its doors wide open to welcome women and men of sport, professionals and amateurs. Relaunching the inclusive and solidarity-based vision of Pope Francis to truly be "Fratelli tutti", brothers to all - the theme of his latest encyclical - also through sport.

In the ancient heart of Trastevere, in Palazzo San Calisto, which is an extraterritorial area of the Holy See, Athletica Vaticana places its operational headquarters (the registered office is in Via del Pellegrino in the Vatican City) at the disposal of the world of sport, as a crossroads of encounters between athletes of different cultures and religions, with special attention to the most fragile people.

The "Vatican House of Sport" will be blessed and inaugurated on Wednesday 20 September, at 18.30, by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, to whom the Pope, in the recent Apostolic Constitution (2022), entrusted sport.

The inclusive and supportive style, the human and fraternal service of sharing, and humble Christian witness among sporting women and men sport give meaning to the Vatican's official multi-sports association. Athletica Vaticana is an "ambassador of the Pope", because it "bears concrete witness, on the streets and in the midst of the people, to the solidarity face of sport, welcoming young migrants and people with disabilities", wrote Pope Francis in his message on the occasion of the Mediterranean Games in Algeria.

A unique "sports diplomatic corps" made up of some 200 men and women - Athletica Vaticana proposes - with the new "House" in Palazzo San Calisto - to experience sport as an opportunity for encounter, sociality, dialogue with all, and friendship that becomes fraternity. A particularly important, even decisive, service in a society torn by wars, tensions, divisions, fears. Because sport, if lived in its soul and preserving its gratuitousness and noble "amateur" spirit, may not only give hope but even prevent conflicts, large and small, between states and between people.

No worries. The Mother church of Sunday sacredness, has entered the sports arena, to work upon establishing her social justice agenda regarding Sunday "sacredness".

QuoteDoes the NFL Violate the Sabbath? Priest Explains If Sports Are Okay on Sundays

Are sports okay on Sunday?

In this episode of "Ask a Marian," Father Chris Alar, MIC, answered the viewer's question: "Father, what is the Catholic Church teaching about sports? My neighbor said the NFL violates the Sabbath and therefore it is sinful to watch games on Sunday. Is this true?"

Father Chris begins by noting the importance of how an individual views sports, saying,

"If sports to us are just a casual way to relax or enjoy the company of others over a good meal after the proper worship of God and fulfillment of our duties are done, it can be a positive thing."

However, he also warns of sports becoming an idol keeping us from Sunday Mass, in which case it becomes a problem.

What does the Catholic Church say about Sports?

Father Chris explains that in the writings of Saint Augustine, Saint John Paul II, and even Saint Paul, we can find references that reflect the Church's position on sports.

More specifically, the belief that sportsman-like discipline is important in cultivating virtue, and that, like athletes, we must train our souls on our journey to heaven.

Father Chris notes that the king virtues of charity and humility learned in team sports are also of great importance. He also mentions his personal experience of learning valuable life skills throughout his high school athletic career.

Then, Father Chris points to the Vatican document, "'Giving the best of yourself: a Document on the Christian perspective on sport and the human person, from the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life."

The document explains more about what the Church says regarding the value of sports and how it benefits Christians, especially how we understand our vocation as children of God. However, the document also acknowledges the risk of sports being an occasion to "divide a family and to diminish the sanctity of Sunday as a holy day to uphold."

Lastly, Father Chris Alar points out a part of the document that encourages priests to be knowledgeable about contemporary sports, "especially as they affect the youth."

The Bottom Line

As with most joys in life, it must be rightly ordered!

If your interest or relationship with sports causes you to sin, it's time to reevaluate their role in your life. If you prioritize watching the big game on Sunday instead of participating in the Holy Mass, it's a serious soul-threatening problem, too.

Otherwise, sports on Sunday are not off-limits or sinful! In fact, they could be a powerful tool in your spiritual tool kit.

You can find a list of patron saints for athletes here.

Exactly. Working, and spending and making a whole lot of money. Sports on Sunday will have to go, or the hypocrisy of such maintained by complicated laws.

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteCatholic Advocacy Group is Calling for the Restoration of Constantine's Sunday Law in Europe

Family Solidarity is an Irish conservative advocacy group run by Roman Catholics. [1] Part of their advocacy work is to petition politicians to enact legislation that aligns with Catholic values. For example, Family Solidarity outlined the following objectives in their mission statement:

• " When the pope says 'positive social and legal action' he means, amongst other things, lobbying for good laws and regulations and to change bad ones. Lobbying is part and parcel of the working democracy everywhere. To neglect it would mean allowing our opponents complete freedom for their destructive activity in this area."

The Catholic Church is deeply involved in political lobbying and engages with governments to influence legislation. Rome believes that Catholic doctrine should guide action not just in personal life but also in shaping society. Recently, Family Solidarity has openly called for the return of Constantine's Sunday laws to be revived again in Europe. Anytime Roman Catholics begin advocating for laws that would make Sunday the required day of rest and worship, this is a significant step toward the fulfillment of end-time prophecy concerning the mark of the beast.

Family Solidarity recently published the following regarding Sunday laws:

• "Once upon a time, not so long ago, Sunday was considered a day of rest. But now, like every other day of the week, it has basically been captured by the demands of commerce. So there is no longer a communal day of rest in a lot of countries. This needs to change. There needs to be a European weekly common day of rest, together with the right to disconnect from work."

"In most European countries, Sunday is traditionally the day of rest from work. This is the heritage of the Christian tradition. Precisely 1,700 years ago, the Emperor Constantine decreed Sunday to be a day of rest protected by law. Nonetheless, many countries, including Ireland, allow businesses to run seven days a week. This has a profound impact on workers and their families."

• "The European Sunday Alliance is a network of trade unions, religious bodies and civil society organizations that want to raise awareness of the importance and value of a weekly day free from work. They also, ask for legislation at EU and Member States levels to be more protective of the health, safety, dignity of everyone and should more attentively promote the reconciliation of professional and family life."

This union of church and state that will work to pass Sunday laws signals a return to the type of religious persecution seen in history when liberty of conscience was overridden by church doctrine. Such legislation compromises the principles of religious liberty by compelling individuals to observe Sunday as the day of rest. This goes contrary to the conviction of those who honor the biblical Sabbath on Saturday.

Revelation 13 warns that the mark of the beast involves allegiance to human authority over God's law, and the enforcement of Sunday, the mark of papal apostasy, would serve as a test of loyalty during the final crisis. Those who refuse to comply will face cancellation, economic penalties, persecution, and even death. Those who remain faithful during this time are described as those who keep God's commandments and the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12) and will be vindicated at Christ's Second Coming.

Prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes as we witness events aligning with biblical predictions about the end times. Increasing global unrest, natural disasters, moral decline, the rise of technologies, and the calls to reinstate Constantine's Sunday laws are reflective of the prophetic descriptions that tell us clearly that we are living in unprecedented times. These are not coincidences but divine warnings that point to the nearing of Christ's return.

Will we not recognize the urgency of the hour? Now more than ever, people need to turn to Jesus, repent of their sins, share the everlasting gospel of Revelation 14, and prepare for His second coming.

Now as to Frankie.

I have read so many times over the years that not only does the pope
claim, or it is assumed he IS God, or that definitely he is Jesus here on earth.

Looks like Frankie has dropped the Papal ball.

Why?

With the number of Catholics world wide that handing on his every word
if anyone really believed any of this   ::eek::

But these five things every Catholic believes...

#1 – He is the Successor of Peter

#2 – He is only Human

#3 – He is the Vicar of Christ

#4 – He Can Teach Infallibly Concerning Faith and Morals

#5 – His Mission is the Unity of the Church

Now... if he has this kind of weight with those who follow him...
WHY does he not simply declare "Sunday" law? Instead of globe trotting and trying to sell the idea to other leaders?

His faithful would follow his directive. I know someone who is denied
the opportunity to take communion in that church because he is divorced and remarried.  This one has for year been looking for a church home for his wife and him, but he, as most all Catholics are, has been taught that they are the one true church and that is where he will go even without the bread and wine. ::shrug::

But I am afraid that John 20:40 is outweighing any common sence that people might have

"HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM."

Maranatha,

True. Yet there are still a great many who will turn and receive the truth as the end approaches and the issues become more plain and simple to see. As unfortunate and uncomfortable as it may be, the church sees some of its most sincere growth and conversions during times of persecution. As harsh as the reality is, it clearly exposes who is actually following the righteous and merciful one, and who is not. The differences between them becoming increasingly focussed, as each plays out the role they have chosen in following either the Father and Son, or the evil one. So be it as our Lord has predicted and determined.

Jhn 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Quote
QuoteThe Secular Media Protests the Desecration of Sunday and Christmas and Calls it an Act of Disrespect to our Creator

The Odessa American is one of the leading sources of local news information, entertainment, and sports for western Texas, particularly in the Permian Basin region. In a December 22, 2024 article titled "What Happened to Sundays and Christmas?", the Odessa American claims that the gradual disregard for Sundays and Christmas has opened the doors for disobedience to govern our lives.

The Odessa American published the following:

• "If there is any single thing that has happened in my lifetime that is brutally tormenting, it is the gradual disregard for Sundays and Christmas Day. Growing up in the fifties and sixties, the remembering of stores being closed on Sunday and Christmas Day, very strongly lingers in my mind."

• "Apparently the presence of greed (1 Timothy 6:10) in our world has preempted the word and will of God. It is also evident, that for employers to sustain a monetary gain in their businesses, they feel the need to open on the days that have been deemed by our Creator as sacred."

• "We also have a large segment of the population for which Christmas Day and Sunday mean no more than a Monday or Wednesday."

• "When we open our stores or engage in those non-essential actions that our earthly wisdom tells us 'That's not so bad,' we open a door for disobedience to govern our lives. We humans are vulnerable to our own notions and opinions. We are vulnerable to the retailers that tell us to shop and buy on Sunday."

• "We are vulnerable to the restaurants that cater to the after church crowd. How many of us have attended church on Sunday morning then ate lunch at a restaurant after the church service? Does that not encourage the restaurateurs to open their doors on the Sabbath?"

• "Our indifferent attitudes toward the Sabbath and Christmas Day scream volumes about our disregard for our Creator. Just as our parents gave us life, Christ Jesus gave us eternity. How can anyone ignore that?"

According to these statements, ignoring Sunday means ignoring eternal life. Remaining indifferent to the desecration of Sunday means ignoring our Creator. The Odessa American also claims that by patronizing stores on Sunday we are encouraging people to violate the Sabbath.

Here we see the secular news media advocating for the closure of businesses on Sundays in order to restore the sanctity of that day and encourage renewed reverence of God within society. They argue that the relentless pace of modern life and the 24/7 consumer culture have eroded the spirituality of Sunday, replacing rest and faith with commercial pursuits. By closing businesses on this day, they contend that we can reclaim God, faith, family, and community.

This is a fulfillment of what we read in the book The Great Controversy. Ellen White cautions us that the time will come when individuals and institutions will advocate for the enforcement of Sunday rest laws as the means to improve the moral decline in society. She warns that such measures will be promoted under the guise of restoring virtue and public decency by appealing to religion.

"Yet this very class put forth the claim that the fast-spreading corruption is largely attributable to the desecration of the so-called 'Christian Sabbath,' and that the enforcement of Sunday observance would greatly improve the morals of society. This claim is especially urged in America, where the doctrine of the true Sabbath has been most widely preached." (Great Controversy, p. 587).

All of these efforts to promote Sunday rest are deceptive because they divert attention from true obedience to God's commandments and will lead to the erosion of religious liberty. We are commanded to be watchful and obedient to biblical truth at this precise moment, particularly with the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath as outlined in the Fourth Commandment.

"The Sabbath truth is to be presented to the world as the seal of the living God. Through it, God designs to distinguish His people from the disobedient and the careless." (Evangelism, p. 233).

"The truth for this time, the third angel's message, is to be proclaimed with a loud voice ... The Sabbath of the fourth commandment is to be exalted before the people." (Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 353).

"The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty; for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve Him not." (Great Controversy, p. 605).

"In the closing work of the gospel, there is a special effort required to exalt the Sabbath and make it stand out in its true character." (Prophets and Kings, p. 183).

"Let nothing lessen the force of the truth for this time; the third angel's message must do its work of separating from the churches a people who will take their stand on the platform of eternal truth." (Evangelism, p. 225).

Sunday is not the sabbath, but by command of the Roman Catholic church. The bible says nothing about the sabbath being changed, or about Sunday having anything to do with honoring our Creator. This is exactly what holy scripture declares concerning the seventh day, not Sunday. The seventh day is God's sabbath, as scriptures declares many times over. The Sunday sabbath is the man of sins chosen sabbath, which the Roman Catholic church claims credit for establishing, apart from the authority of holy scripture. Only by the Roman churches claim to be above the authority of holy scripture. This is the man of sin, who thinks to change God's times and law. When they succeed in forcing this man made sabbath upon all, to be observed by law over and above God's created seventh day sabbath, all of humanity will choose whether they will worship and obey God or man. That is to say, self. So be it as God's word has foretold.

Quoted article below from link above.

QuoteIsrael Embraces the Monday-to-Friday Trading Week with Sundays Off in Order to Align with International Markets

Participation in the global market and international trade is essential for nations because being connected drives economic development and prosperity. In the context of the final crisis during the mark of the beast, economic systems are expected to play a pivotal role as tools for control and compliance. According to Revelation 13:16-17, the mark of the beast will be tied to the ability to buy and sell, revealing to us that in the last days, global economic systems will become highly centralized and regulated to ensure that Sunday is respected as the day of rest.

This is exactly what is happening today in Israel. On December 31, 2024, The Times of Israel reported the following:

• "Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Monday approved a shift to a Monday-to-Friday trading week to align the local stock exchange with global standards and markets abroad."

• "Smotrich said that the transition away from the current Sunday-to-Thursday trading week is intended to adapt the local capital market so it overlaps more with the trading week and hours on Wall Street and European bourses."

• "Changing the trading days is a central component of our vision to strengthen the connection between the Israeli capital market, the Israeli economy, and global markets," Smotrich said. "This move will allow global investors to access the Israeli capital market more easily, invest in our attractive local market without unnecessary and harmful barriers, and strengthen the Israeli economy in the long term."

In the last days, prophecy reveals that participation in the coming global economy will become contingent upon nations and individuals embracing Sunday as the universal day of rest and worship, aligning with the papal mark of apostasy described in Revelation 13. Nations will be compelled to adopt this system under a "pay-to-play" scheme, where compliance with Sunday laws becomes a prerequisite for access to global markets and financial systems. Those who reject this mandate will face economic exclusion and persecution, fulfilling the prophecy that no one will buy or sell without the mark. This scenario reflects a unification of political and religious powers, using economic systems as tools of coercion to enforce false worship and undermine individual liberty of conscience.

"In the last great conflict of the controversy with Satan those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers, they will be forbidden to buy or sell. It will finally be decreed that they shall be put to death. But to the obedient is given the promise, 'He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.' Isaiah 33:16. By this promise the children of God will live. When the earth shall be wasted with famine, they shall be fed" (Desire of Ages, p. 121).

Sunday agitation. Weak minded, fearful, and or power hungry people want the government to force them and everyone else to take a stand upon Sunday sacredness issues. Acting as though people are being forced to work on Sundays, when all they need is enough back bone about their own convictions to follow through with them. Even if it hurts their pocket books a little, or a lot.

They brought up Chick-fil-a as an example, but do not intend to follow their example. Chick-fil-a did not wait around for government action or blue laws before demonstrating their faith in their convictions. They took action upon them, regardless of consequence. Which has worked out very well. Is the government your God whom you depend upon to enforce your convictions so that you will obey them, and everyone else as well, regardless of what they think of them? Or is the Lord Jesus Christ your Savior and God, whose example you should follow? Choose you this day whom you will serve, and or who will be your master.
