In addendum to what Visionary has said:
The circumstances surrounding that time period were relevant as well. Women were treated one small half-step above property. The divorce and remarriage rate was almost tantamount to wife swapping. Women had no access to the courts like men did....the judges refused usually to listen or grant the women divorces or complaints. Couple that with the fact that women really didn't hold down jobs that were self supportive & well...what Jesus was alluding to was that the world has sinned as well as was currently transgressing His laws and needed a Savior because no one had or would be able to keep His laws.

I have had a pretty secular experience of dating up until this point and I think it'll do me some good to spend this time single preparing for dealing with dating in a Christian way.

Don't forget to follow the rules...you will find the list on this section in a separate thread... ::clappingoverhead:: ::tippinghat::

You appear to have left the thread which is unfortunate.

I agree being single is not a great place to be. I have been physically celibate for over 16 years now.
I disagree with some on the board as this gift is meant for some, not all, so it is not a general gift. I for one do not want it, so I need to look at some of the other things which may have prevented my marriage.

One is to want it too much, and so making friendships based on wrong reasons and leading to me being hurt (frequently then blaming God). Second was a relationship which resulted in unrequited love, painful, but again I read the signs wrong. Then there are the motives, looking for a model wife, straight of the movie screen, when blatantly the only movie screen you would find me on would be as a "hobbit". Lastly God can and doesput barriers in our way for our good. Proverbs 31 is very good for women as well to look at what kind of a man you would need to marry to continue being happy.

I hope you read this , as I got the feeling you may be a younger person who needed support and unconditional fellowship, rather than to feel judged. If it helps I get grumpy with God about it often. I hope you can realise as I always do eventually he loves me completely and totally. He will never hurt me or cause me pain, ever.

God Bless you and a young man will come along, try not to be too keen.
