And 116=13572!

 First off 9=9....the "if's and "then's"  will lead you down the wrong path by following the trend but following the pattern of each number being multiplied by the next larger whole integer, x = 10 for 9 and yeah the answer they are looking for is 90.. Just incase somebody doesn't get it.   

They say there is a close line between genius and insanity.. I've always concluded that I am insane- 

OK - where is the girl in the flat bed ford?  Can't tell if that reflection is a flat bed or not.

Not necessarily. 

My grandad had an old chevy with the regular bed (wheels outside the bed) and kept wooden sides on it as well.  There were 3 holes on each side that would fit 2x2 boards.

That makes no sense, if your answer is 72 then the multiplication factor had to be 8, where did you fit 8 into the sequence in the left column? Did you bypass 7 also? If 8 and 7 are present in the left column to solve "9" then 56 and 72 will be spoken for prior to solving for 9. I know the meme quotes "only for geniuses, but this is grade school stuff. The answer is 90.

Consecutive has nothing to do with it.  The pattern is X(X+1)...2(2+1)....3(3+1)...etc.  So, when you insert 9 you get 9(9+1) which = 90.

Shame when a moderator attempts to insult someone. Especially a new member.
You'll have to point out that the multiples for a consecutive alignment occurs in place of the = sign.
Even then you'll get guff.
The whole equation sequence is in multiplication. Not the idiocy of addition.

Every equation requires proofing to be verified correct, show us how you have derived at an answer of 72.

FTR, Bond and I may have agreed since we agreed on the correct answer, not because we always support each others views and we were not alone in our answer, Nevertheless and Jd34 also agreed that 90 was the correct answer.

I saw this on facebook the other day, the answer is 90.

90 is indeed the correct answer, and Alan is correct, it is grade-school level math.

It's a shame that so many wear their feelings on their sleeve at GCM. Where I found it on Facebook, some had the right answer, others did not. As on here, some with the wrong answer tried to convince others that they were right, but were corrected. But on FB, no one jumped all over those who defended the correct answer. Shame, indeed.

4*5=20
5*6=30
6*7=42

Simply put, the pattern is a multiplication of each number with the next number. Or to put it more formally, x(x+1).

Therefore we can find out that 7=56, 8=72, 9=90, and 26=702. It's a consistent pattern.

I don't mean to speak sternly, but I have a strong fondness of mathematics, and I can't let such error go unanswered...
