This is a thread intended to share the blasphemy and sacrilege commonly performed by the music industry. The intention is to awaken believers to the filth we overlook in the music we listen to, and even may allow our children to listen.

I'll start this off with a quote I made in another thread:

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want: He makes me down to lie: Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by. With bright knives He releaseth my soul. He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places. He converteth me to lamb cutlets, For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger."

~Perversion of the 23rd Psalm by Pink Floyd in - Sheep

Bon Voyage

I guess I don't quite understand why this information is important.  Secular music artists make secular music.  Can you expect non-Christians to behave like Christ?

But when so-called Christians listen to this kind of music without knowing the content, thats wherein lies the danger.

marc

So-called Christians?  Without knowing the content (listening while wearing ear-plugs, maybe)?

I used to listen to this music all the time without knowing that the message was outright blasphemy against God and Christ. I would call a Christian "so-called" if they listened to this music knowing what the message the music was.

The Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil":

"Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, what's my name
Tell me honey, can Ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what's my name
I tell you one time, you're to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
What's me name
Tell me, baby, what's my name
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah..."

From Jefferson Airplane's, "The Son of Jesus":

"...Jesus had a son by Mary Magdalene
and he rode the land like the man who went before
young Jesus raised him loud,
mother Mary raised him proud
and he tracked the men who laid his father down...
so you think young Jesus Christ never a lady
and you think young Mary never saw him smile wide & free
you won't read it in the bible & if you
look you're liable ta come across the truth

Hi All,

This Topic reminds me of the Puritan slam down after The English Civil War of the people.   No singing and dancing.  No celebrating Christmas and the like.  A deary Church with endless words and no joy going into the people!

Yes freedom brings blasphemy and a lot worse if the Word of God is not exercised and Christian Ethics not applied from the Doctrine of Christ!  But but but who are we to demand conformity to that ethic I wonder from the people lost in this world and the next.  Preach the Word and Heal the sick!

The result was King Charles II welcomed back onto the Throne of England.  Your ancestors if from England thrown in some cases out of the Parish Churches Ministers included physically and a lot of your people asked to emigrate to the Colonies quite strongly or starve!

Singing and dancing with Joy to the LORD returned to the Church Whole Orchestra's  from the Pub. next door led the singing until the Rector could get an organ built so he could control the music again.  Christmas and the other Great Festivals enjoyed by the people singing and dancing at the Puritan downfall.

Now the swing is the other way and I defy any Church group to stop it!  PC. from America,  The Bible altered to suit,  The History rewritten to suit, and discrimination against The Great Liar is now unlawful don't you know.   The rise of the Homosexual Lie that it is not a sin anymore fed by some Churchmen who have joined the Great Abomination and what do we stand and do?  Attack music singing and dancing yet again.  The Christian now stands at the wrong side of the Anti-Discrimination Law!

And we are going to raise a failed concept of The English Civil War and demand to curb music singing and dancing in our countries and in our Churches?

Fifty years to late here friend in England even to try, and here it was founded on disbelief.

But apart from that the Joy of The LORD is in my Soul today the Sun is shining,  The Son is waiting, and this one brings tears to the ears!

Colin.

I think it all comes down to discernment.  Sometimes we want to substitute asceticism for discernment, but there are warnings about that in Colossians and elsewhere.

CSloan

"Angel from below, change my dreams: I want for glory's hour, for wealth's esteem: I wish to sell my soul, to be reborn: I wish for earthly riches, don't want no crown of thorns: I was born a fool, don't want to stay that way: Devil take my soul, with diamonds you repay: I don't care for heaven, so don't you look for me to cry: And I will burn in hell, from the day I die"

Cause music has a message behind it and it effects people. Those in the music industry are influencing others. Especially the youth as they often like to imitate their favorite musicians. We need to be careful of what we watch and what we listen to because it effects us. Even many in the church ar ebeing desensitzed through ungodly music, television, video games, books, this is indoctrinating society. Satan wants to get people to accept him. He wants people to think of his ways as being normal. And he also wants the church to be lukewarm so that they won't have a real impact on society. If they are not walking upright with God, they will never be what God has called them to be. they will never effect the world the way they are supposed to.

Perverted music is a tool that has been used by Satan because everyone hears music. Even if you shoose not to listen to music, you will still hear it in shopping centres, in the work place, etc.

Csloan, I am seriously worried about the music you listen to!

I cerainly know quotes from my cd collection wouldn't sound anything at all like that.  I'd look into some new cds if I were you.  ::shrug::

If those of us who name the name of Christ only had conviction like those who were in Ephesus:

"... And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed." ~ Acts 19:17-20

As long as they don't substitute their own think-sos for sorcery.

If you haven't yet, I'd appreciate it if you read the thread I started on the Theology board.

CSloan

Seems like this thread touches a nerve.

janine

No, but it does tell me some folks witch-hunt.

Some folks have no imagination.

Some folks never heard of hyperbole, poetic license.

Some folks look at "Sympathy for the Devil" and see a glorification of Satan.  I see a catalog of the ways it seems Satan has tried to warp and destroy Man -- and ultimately, yet again, failed, every time.

Colin2000

Hi Janine,

I heard a terrible one about blood and sacrifice years ago when we used to follow worship me with songs and Psalms it went something like this

"What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

"Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

Now who needs to know the witness of the music of the world or bother to much with it when we have something like this which helped to bring countless children to Him when someone like Uncle Sam Nellist used to sing it in the North of England!  We should be talking of The love of Christ.  Let the devil talk to those Christians who need to be involved in Demonic Worship.

You can get the other two pages of that child like witness from,

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/n/b/nbtblood.htm

Robert Lowry must have been a good Saint don't you think.  Wonder how he is getting on with the LORD now.  Just the same I expect!!! ....

"Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;"

When you come to the LORD as a child!

Yours in His Everlovingtenderkindness,

Colin.

PS. Just a real softy for the LORD when I remember!

janine

I use the Cyberhymnal often.  It's a good place to link to when you're on a discussion forum and want a link where people can quickly pop over to listen to a tune you have in mind.

Don't get me wrong, there is some real garbage available out there in the music world.  It's not that I support every rock band idiot who thinks he's a Satantist.

Y'all just try to keep the tone of your voice "Watchman on the Wall" rather than "Chicken Little".

Too graphic to write.

A song about a corpse, lying in his coffin and calling out to Christ, in a mocking and taunting voice, to save him.

Truly, the worst song written in the past 20 years that is still played regularly on the radio.
