the only difference between me and the Pope is that he dictates his power and authority by a fleshly rule over his so called people and I take the power and authority that God has given me through His grace and use that power and authority in the name of Jesus to continue in His good works. It's odd how Jesus walks right beside me in Spirit on this earth and it is through that Spirit of God that guides and directs my path, allows me to pray directly to Him and works through me as His ambassador, but you have to take all your guidance and direction from a man then so be it. As for those little back wood churches was it not our founding Fathers of America that set them up to break away from tyranny of a dictatorship!!! You need not answer that.

Debbie_55,

Lets get back on topic. The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception has  been defined by the Catholic Church as an article of faith.  Consequently the only way to disprove it is by disproving the infallibility of the Catholic Church. Meantime, none of your difficulties avails against it, so we might as well get along with the people who pratice the Catholic Faith.

What is the truth then ?

The truth is that the backwoods start up churches in America are half-baked.  The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true vicar, the head of the entire church, the father and teacher of all Christians

So then, Romans 3;23 is wrong when it says that "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God"? Maybe God should have included "Except for Catholic priests and the pope, who are righteous and can be My advocates."

Also, in 1 John 2:1 we read, "My litle children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." NOwhere does it mention anyone else as our advocate between us and the father but "Jesus Christ, the righteous"--the ONLY One who is righteous enough to stand before God and plead our case, NO earthly man or woman but the Son of man can accomplish that, because ALL people born of an earthly father (including the pope) are sinful and need the Saviour. NO one can be put in the place of God or His Son.

This can go back and forth all night. First, listen to this Irish lassie sing about the mother of Jesus. Then tell me that it's heathen.

For the guys who joined this thread late, this is the sacrilege that everyone is worried about.  An Irish girl singing in Latin about Jesus' mother Mary. (Luke 1:28)

My gosh!

hehealedme As these articles say, nowhere are we told to pray to Mary or to other saints, or to ask them to pray for us. We are told to pray to our Father through JESUS. No more no less. By the way The Bible says that ALL Christians are saints anyway and not just a few that some men have decided can be called saints.
Boy it is all so far from what The Bible says. Jesus is all that we need. Mary and others are dead and can no more pray for us than any other dead person. Its all taking us away from Jesus and his total and absolute uniqeness. After all he is God, Mary and others are human being. They are waiting to be raised at the coming of Jesus.

Hehealedme, you didn't have to spend all day cut-and-paste from the Internet, all you had to do is tell me that you are a "anti-Catholic". I feel bad that I put you through all that hard work. Rather than waste your time with mile long posts, why don't you simply post something that expresses the Gospel with the same love and innocents as Chloe Agnew? Are Catholics who pray to Mary the only ones who have that touch? Lets see what you have for us.

I feel sorry for anyone who has so many beliefs that arent even in the Bible. What does it matter how nice a song is if the words are so wrong?  Catholics who pray to Mary are deceived and to be pitied.

"Fundamentalist anti-Catholic".

WoW, I now have a title!...whatever... ::doh::

hehealedme. If you are given that title for stating what is in the Bible and questioning wrong and deluded beliefs, then be proud if it. Paul commended the people for searching the scriptures for themsleves and discounting wrong teaching, and that is what you have done. I am aganst anyone who wont believe what The Bible says.I feel sorry for them and worry for them, yes, but it would be wrong to stop pointing our serious error in anyones life and beliefs.

Fundamentalists, unbelievers,Mainline Christians, Calvinists or whoever are not usually anti Catholic. Anti Catholicism, maybe. There is a difference.

I would probably be classed as a "Fundamentalist". That has lately become a dirty word on the Christian scene.  ::eek::

I am anti Catholicism but I am not anti Catholic because I am not anti you and from your posts I gather you are a Roman Catholic.

I have to agree.Sometimes we need to stand up and say things that arent popular. I know several Catholics and I am certainly not anti them as people, just againt much of what they believe. Just as I am not againt those who are from other faiths or no faith. They may be wrong but I dont dislike them at all, I feel sorry for them. I pray and hope that they will see the truth one day.

You guys are still missing it by a mile. Let me give you an example of what you are doing:  What if I put on my business suit, went into the ghettos of Detroit, and told the black church that their pentecostal beliefs were not from God? Lets face it, the whites in this country have not built up enough equality with the blacks to take that liberty.

It's the same with the British and the Irish Catholics. It's the same with the Canadians and the French Canadian Catholics.

Like I said earlier, I view this thread as 100% cheap politics, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Irish girls singing in Latin about Jesus' mother.

I could go into the many testimonies I have listened to about how fundamentalists found Jesus the hard way, but that would be off topic. However, those testimonies make Chloe Agnew look like an angel from heaven.

Have you thought to apply for popeship, banished?  From what I've read in your posts,  ::cryingtears:: you are as qualified as any Catholic bishop, or priest, etc.

EJ,

I was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church over 20 years ago, and there isn't even a slight chance that the Catholics will ever take me back. I am a protestant forever!

EJ

Banished, I went by your Catholic doctrine beliefs.  You definitely sound catholic still.

i will have to say I agree with chosenone . theres alot in the catholic religion f aith thats not scripture.  the sprinkling of water instead of submersing the body...........calling the priests father.......(scripture says you only have one father and He is in heaven)   and the worshipping the virgin mary.  we all know what the scripture says about worhipping anyone besides GOD.

if you believe all this wrong is ok for you.....maybe its time you pick up the BIBLE and reread it.

blu

I am neither Catholic or Protestant, but I do believe in the bible and what it says.
Now as to the praying to Mary and asking her to pray for us, is unbiblical for the simple reason is that mary does not have any remember-ence of the former life. However she is and should be memorialized. Presently, like all saints that die, her soul is with God in heaven, and she is waiting for the second coming in which she also will receive a brand new resurrected body.
(Isa 65:17)  For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

I doubt that God will allow her soul to be in sorrow as she awaits the new heaven and earth. The only mention is in Revelation is where the souls ask God how long O Lord."  the ones who's souls are in waiting as the reign with the Lord.
(Rev 6:9) And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

(Rev 20:4) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
I could be wrong, but if so, then show me otherwise, with bible reference.

No offense jessie, but you do not know your bible as well as you do your prejudice.
There is no difinative proof of submersive baptism it is only a strong Baptist belief.
Moreover, they do not worship her, they pray to her, they do; however, memorialize her.

Personally I get along with everyone, but I do not have to support their views of their particular religion as being that their churches statement of faith are anymore higher then God himself as to what they choose to believe in or interpret. Everything to me of God is defined by His word through His Spirit and not some church defining His word for me. We will never agree when it comes to religious practices for I will never have anything to do with religion again as all my faith and belief is in Christ himself through His grace and mercy as I will continue my personal relationship with the Father.

Banished I have nor ever will have anything against you personally as you are my brother in Christ and I do love you in Christ, but I will never agree with the Catholic church nor any organized religions. Peace be with you and God bless you.

Any church that puts it denominational doctrine before the written word is not worth it weight in salt.
We are all going to the judgment seat of Christ. We are to love out neighbors and enemies, not postulate hateful arguments toward them.  ::destroying

ill apologize to "banished" as i reworded my meaning wrong. I guess in some meaning somewhere.....praying to the virgin mary isnt the same as worshiiping her. I deeply apologize. I guess calling the priests father ..after the Bible says to call noone father, that we have just one father and he is in heaven......and I think i may be wrong when I say they believe Christ hasnt returned yet and resurrected. I am probabally wrong about babtism meaning submersed when it states Jesus came up out of the water.

I deeply apologize as not knowing the "catholic belief" as I think I got the BIBLE correct.
Is there anyone out there can shine any light on this to help me and "banished".

Again I apologize to "banished".

Instead of practicing faith in the Catholic church, why not practice faith in God's Word?... ::prayinghard::

hehealedlme,

This is where we differ greatly.  I do not view the Bible as my God like fundamentalist do, so we will never agree.  "The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth...by divine right the Pope has supreme and full power in faith, in morals over each and every pastor and his flock. The protestant churches are without excuse! They can be who they want and sing the hymns they want, but if they were honest they would follow the Pope in matters of faith and morals. The only thing driving the start up churches is cheap politics.

The point is, you don't get what was said about the pope, from the Bible.

The Bible says in Ephesians 1, that God gave the Lord Jesus to be 'head over all things to the church, which is His body'.

We are not supposed to pray to Mary whether we worship her or not. We're to pray to our Heavenly Father the Bible says. No where does the Bible ever mention praying to Mary or any other human being. We dont need to,we can pray to GOD who made the universe.

It's good to stick to what the Bible says about the Lord Jesus Christ. It's so important and God honoring to do so.

The Bible is the inspired word of God, That is what it says. The Bible says that Jesus is the head of the church. Therefore the pope cannot be the head of the church. He may be the leader of the Catholic church, but isnt the head of the church, because Jesus is. Jesus is God and the pope is a man. BIG difference.
