After years of teaching public school and homeschooling her three boys, Marilyn continues to work with youth as a friend and prayer mentor. She has led a young adults’ prayer meeting in her home for over 16 years and also coordinates the prayer e-chain at her church. Her passion for prayer grew out of the cancer valley that she and her husband walked through with their young son. Seeing miracles and answers to prayer at every turn she became ever more convinced of the very real existence, and goodness, of God. A few years later, as she began a prayer meeting with home schooled children she had a deep encounter with the Holy Spirit which began a life adventure that has only gained momentum.She has written many stories on the joy of knowing Jesus. Her articles have appeared in her church denomination’s magazine, the Christian home school association newsletter, and the occasional local newspaper. Besides writing the story of their cancer journey, she has written a small historical piece for her church’s website, and has authored two blogs. “Hearing with the Heart” was originally birthed as a blog to describe the Shepherd’s voice in her life. She hears Him through reflection on scripture, through the experiences of life, and through the whispers of her heart. She senses His Presence with her in amazing ways and loves to encourage others to recognize His voice as well.
